whitesoxfan101
http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/news/ar...b&fext=.jsp South Atlantic League John Shelby, Kannapolis .483 (14-29), 10 R, 4 2B, 0 3B, 2 HR, 11 RBI, 0 BB, 2 SO, 1 SB, .828 SLG Intimidators third baseman John Shelby's current hitting streak stands at 22 games thanks to yet another fantastic week of offensive production from the 22-year-old. Shelby had a pair of hits or more in five of his six games this week, including a three-hit performance against Savannah on Sunday and a four-hit effort versus Hagerstown on Tuesday. The native of Baltimore, Md., finished the week with 11 RBIs, five of which game against Savannah on Saturday when he recorded a double and a home run in the game. Pioneer League Salvador Sanchez, Great Falls .484 (15-31), 6 R, 3 2B, 1 3B, 0 HR, 7 RBI, 1 BB, 2 SO, 2 SB, .645 SLG White Sox outfielder Salvador Sanchez has been a pillar of the Great Falls offense and one of the great offensive threats in the Pioneer League all season. This week was no different. The 21-year-old broke out of a brief slump and recorded a hit in all seven games. He finished the week with 15 hits, including four for extra-bases and seven RBIs. He also stole a pair of bases, bringing his season total in that regard to 16. The native of New York City had a trio of three-hit games against Idaho Falls. BearSox
Can we consider Shelby an actual hitting prospect? Is he top 10 worthy?

Chisoxfn
QUOTE(BearSox @ Aug 20, 2007 -> 05:37 PM) Can we consider Shelby an actual hitting prospect? Is he top 10 worthy? Ya he's a prospect. I don't know if I'd call him high upside or anything crazy, but he's a prospect with a decent chance of playing in the majors (not necessarily as a starter, but he's got a good shot of at least getting a cup of coffee which is more than you can say about a lot of guys). BearSox
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 20, 2007 -> 10:52 PM) Ya he's a prospect. I don't know if I'd call him a sure fire guy yet, nor do I consider high upside, but he's a prospect. nothing's sure fire...
Chisoxfn
I do think he'll play in the majors (or at least has good odds of doing so) but most likely as a platoon type guy and that is the problem with a lot of the Sox prospects (many with great chances at a major league roster...very very few with a chance of being anything close to impact players/all stars).
