Chisoxfn
Rios told local reporters he was designated for assignment. Players we're all saying goodbye to Jimenez. Nice, Rowand and Harris are staying up. So this means Jimenez was moved but no other major leaguer was moved in the deal or at least its not likely. THe big question is who are the other two guys in the Rangers deal. Guest JimH
Levine said Rios and Jimenez are being designated for assignment. Supposedly Jimenez is not involved in the Everett trade. It's supposed to be 3 players, two of them pitchers ... one from Charlotte and two others from the lower levels, i.e. NOT Cotts or anyone at AA. Chisoxfn
This is awesome news in regards to the trade if it isn't anyone good, but what the hell are they waiving Jimenez for. This guy shouldn't be going anywhere and at worse you could trade him for a reliever. Come on KW, get your head out or you butt on this waiving of Jimenez. HE has a high obp, and is real talented and would be an asset off of our bench. I'd rather ship Harris to the minors.

AssHatSoxFan
i said this before and i will say it here I do not want us to turn over someone and then have it turn into a scrubbie type dontrelle willis deal where we give up someone really good even in AA ball

Well if this is the case I don't fell quite as bad about this trade. I'm still a little worried about Everett though.
Guest JimH
Supposedly ... again ... supposedly, not Rauch. Not Honel, not Wing. One guy from AAA, I asked Levine "Ginter? Diaz?" ... he said, "maybe one of those two" ... and then two other guys from lower levels ... Class A. Don't know if we're talking someone from W-S or Kanny. Or lower. witesoxfan
Isn't Cotts a AAer? If so, and JimH isn't BSing(don't worry, I believe you! ), that means we didn't give up Cotts, right?

greg775
Looks like D'Angelo's attitude may really HAVE been bad. Seems like since he started making those one handed catches on double plays, Manuel got pissed. I saw him do it once on TV and it worked. The second time I saw he dropped it and Manuel was peeved. Has he been doing that a lot, or just those 2 times?
baggio202
this to me is great news...rios wasnt hitting and jimenez is a complete waste of space...atleast with rowand we keep a guy that play a respectable defensice Cf as our 4th outfielder..and harris gives us some speed off the bench and a guy that can be called on to lay down a bunt in a crucial spot...smart move another plus..if we win the division with these two moves it really increases the chances of resigning loaiza and colon to long term deals...be nice to have those guys and buehrle anchor our staff for the next few seasons.. My guess is that Cotts is gone.......... from Birmingham either way. If he stays, they may bump him up to AAA to fill in gaps there. Who knows....... Guest JimH
Don't know this for sure, just reporting what Levine said at the ballpark after the game. One guy from AAA, two others from lower levels, he said Class A, maybe lower. That seems to rule out Cotts, but who knows for sure ... until it's announced. They've got a 3.5 or 4.5 million dollar option on Loazia. So I think it's safe to say they'll use it.
