LVSoxFan
Not a lot new here, but interesting to see it all summarized in one article. They also mention the Houston firings. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ap-w...p&type=lgns
Jim Spencer
I gave up looking at the standings about a month ago. For some reason I looked today and I knew we were terrible, but I didn't realize there are only 2 teams in MLB with a record worst then us
Milkman delivers
QUOTE(Jim Spencer @ Aug 28, 2007 -> 03:09 PM) I gave up looking at the standings about a month ago. For some reason I looked today and I knew we were terrible, but I didn't realize there are only 2 teams in MLB with a record worst then us Aw, I thought we had the second-worst record? Who passed us? knightni
They do have second-worse. But with Tampa being worst, that only gets the Sox the #3 pick.
Marky Mark
So if we get the second overall pick for next year's draft, do you think the Sox will manage to not let him pitch in the majors until after he has 5 minor league seasons under his belt being the slow moving organization that we are. knightni
We can't get the 2nd overall unless an NL team starts sucking and TB starts winning.
Kalapse
QUOTE(knightni @ Aug 29, 2007 -> 12:13 PM) We can't get the 2nd overall unless an NL team starts sucking and TB starts winning. Um, no. When determining draft order league is not a determining factor. The first 3 picks in the draft could come from the same division if those teams had the three worst records in baseball. JoeBatterz
QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 09:43 AM) Wonder if KW and Reinsdorf would ever think about hiring Purpura as Asst. GM? Would love to see Purpura back on the Southside. I still remember in 2005 when they ran an article in the Houston Chronicle that showed his wedding picture in which both him and his wife posed in tux and wedding gown wearing Sox caps. OilCan
QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 09:43 AM) Wonder if KW and Reinsdorf would ever think about hiring Purpura as Asst. GM? I'd take Gary Hunsicker (sp?), the person who was the GM for the 'stros before Tim Purpura was. That '05 team that the Sox faced in the WS were all Hunsicker's doings.
