September 2 -- White Sox vs. Cleveland

Look at this lineup:

Owens CF

Podsednik LF

Thome DH

Konerko 1B

Erstad RF

Pierzynski C

Gonzalez 3B

Richar 2B

Uribe SS

This is just hilarious; and to be honest, I couldn't be happier. With Contreras pitching the probability of winning this game has to be at 5% for the White Sox.

If Contreras can go 6+, no ER today, that should be much more important than the L. I guess the best case scenario right now would Count going 7IP, no ER, and the Bukvich and Myers exploding at the end, losing the ballgame.

If you are talking about his trade worth, I really don't think a few September starts will make much of a difference even if he is lights out. For the White Sox to trade him, they will have to eat a lot of his contract IMO. They are better off keeping him if thats the case and he shows anything. He has been better as of late although not dominant. If he can get back to a middle of the rotation guy, not even a #1 or #2, he will be worth more next offseason and you will get a season of decent pitching.

Agreed completely. Could you imagine the reaction here at Soxtalk if there was a report of the Sox looking at a pitcher making $10+ million a year, a 5.00+ ERA, but he was coming off a good September?
