chiguy79
This guy is terrible and makes watching him play nearly unbearable. Please spare us this next year. Sorry for the rant. But this guy is Ozzie's Neifi Perez!
Brian
Yep, but as long as we are trying Fields in left, it's him or Andy at 3rd for the last month.
NorthSideSox72
QUOTE(Brian @ Sep 9, 2007 -> 03:22 PM) Yep, but as long as we are trying Fields in left, it's him or Andy at 3rd for the last month. Kalapse
So why can't Jason B. play 3B?
EvilMonkey
Once a week is it for Cintron. He can't play everyday. I hate seenig him out there any more than that.
NorthSideSox72
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 9, 2007 -> 05:43 PM) So why can't Jason B. play 3B? That is the most puzzling and most anger-inducing move (or lack of) from this organization during the September call-ups. I just can't figure it out. southsider2k5
For a guy with a $5 million option, he really isn't doing much to make sure it gets picked up.
winninguglyin83
Cintron has a $5 million option. Thought that was Uribe? Cintron is garbage. no field. no arm. no spark. can find a solid utility infielder who is better for much, much less.
The Beast
Cintron does not have a 5 million dollar option, that is Uribe. Or maybe I'm the one who is confused.
BearSox
Alex Cintron will still be arb. eligible nest season...
elrockinMT
What we saw today from Cintron and what we have seen from Gonzalez and even to some extent from Fields at 3B is the reason we need to keep Joe Crede. If Joe was at 3B today we would have won the game.
jasonxctf
im not sure i'd go that far. so you pull off Cintron's RBI and offset the defense with Crede, do we score more than 1 run?
southsider2k5
You aren't comparing Crede and Cintron as offensive equals are you? Joe is way better defensively and offensively. It is not even close.
29andPoplar
Actually what this speaks to is the situation with the Sox bench. I am convinced they will pursue more speed for the bench and guy(s) who are very good defensively. If you attempt to build your team around pitching you'd better have stellar defense. Cintron doesn't offer much of anything, he has little speed, is not a selective nor particularly dangerous hitter, and we are seeing his defense. Not to trash him because he has had an awful year off the field, but it is what it is.

However, I think Cintron is just fine playing the role he was supposed to play and that's back up 2b and SS. You won't get a .300 average/30 homer man on the bench. Guys like Alex and Gonalzez and Pablo were signed to fill in as needed and not play everyday. Of course that isn't to say we don't need better or wouldn't benefit from better. Bourgeois could fill the same role, probably provide both better offense and better defense (I admit I know little about his D, but he is athletic enough to play all over the field and Cintron is awful), and for a lot cheaper.
