Gregory Pratt
If I'm misreading him, fine, but it very much seems like he's complaining -- why isn't it censored? Oh, they're the ones who showed Lovelace sucking dick. I'm just saying, Yo, it's HBO. You pay for it. You have a good idea what you're getting. Are you seriously complaining that HBO is not censored? Gregory Pratt
The series gained some early publicity because of its extremely graphic depictions of sexual penetration, oral sex, masturbation and ejaculation. [1][2][3] [4] However, these sequences were entirely simulated using highly-realistic prosthetics and suggestive camera angles.[citation needed] With regard to these controversial scenes actress Jane Alexander has said the following: "You know, people tend to believe those scenes, when they see them, are real, but they're not. They're acted. Our union doesn't even let us have any real sex, not that we would anyway. But just acting with someone like David [selby], whom I have known for so long, it was fine. Those scenes are never easy."[5] That is weird.

Gregory Pratt
I was surprised to see the blowjob and handjob and hear about this Lovelace documentary but it's HBO. It's an extra channel you've got to pay for. I hope nobody's complaining that it wasn't censored.

The bible channel, you crack me up Pratt. Ask people who have been in game chat, and some of the conversations the chat crew has had over the years, if porn or nudity offends me. LOL HBO for years has been the tame sex, almost less than Skin-e-max. Now they are showing mock penetration. It doesnt offend me, I just think its funny how over the last say 3 years they have went down this road. Maybe now Cathouse will actually show something worthwhile. Or the pornucopia will start to be more interesting.
Gregory Pratt
Well, I thought it would be odd if you were taking offense at the mock-porn, since we've had a couple of small back-and-forths in the chatroom and, uh, I thought you took some rather offensive material well, but I wanted to make sure. I do know that there are some people b****ing about the "porn" being shown on this show. Glad you're not one of them. Good advice, though? Go hardcore if you want porn and stop settling for that soft HBO s***.

Gregory Pratt
I avoid Internet porn at all costs. But I don't watch porn at all unless it's incidental, like HBO.

HBO has been the only pay channel that hasn't turned to soft porn to sell and keep customers. Guess they are feeling the sting of losing the Soprano's and had to do something drastic. I'm not complaining though. The show has great potential.

That way they dont have to worry about lowering their standards to bring in more viewers. And that will make me a very happy person as well. Flash Tizzle
I somehow sat through the pilot available on On Demand and could barely keep myself awake. I could see the appeal to those who have been (or are currently) in a marriage and relate to issues such as not having sex for long periods of time; but this subject matter, with the current assortment of characters, doesn't interest me. I don't fault, HBO, though. This show wasn't greenlit to appeal to me. What'd I really like to see HBO do is create a horror-related series. They've done it in the past with "Tales From The Crypt." If they're willing to take a chance, it'd atleast be interesting to watch something different.

I don't think the demand is there... these horror flicks are all a dime a dozen and the market is over-saturated. I do think HBO is in need of something different, and something BIG! Yeah, the sex got everyone interested for a minute, but the storyline wasn't that phenomenal, and like I said, I don't want to watch television to become depressed. On a side note, does anyone else think that HBO always seems to have a crappy stock of movies playing? It seems to me like there is always a movie that I want to see on Showtime, but HBO runs the same freaking rerun shows every night in primetime until Saturday when they play a movie like "Superman Returns" that is truly "meh." Obviously, I go through like two weeks a time and set to DVR on the HD channel any movies that interest me (like Accepted, which tapes tomorrow), but I rarely find more than two in a two week span worth dvr'ing. I also find it annoying that HBO doesn't bother putting any of their movies or television series on HD On Demand. What is this, 2003? /HBO rant

There was more to the show than 1 plot line about a couple who stopped having sex, but regardless I don't think you have to have a relative situation to be attacted to a train wreck. If that was the case most shows on TV would have no following. I do agree on the horror stuff. Tales from the Crypt and the autopsy shows were huge favorites of mine in the past. HBO is willing to give that idiot Lisa Kudrow a show of her own yet can't take a risk with a genre they haven't touched in over 5 years? If anything, the success of recent horror movies such as Halloween -- in addition to the abundance of DTV releases -- should prove there atleast exists a market. How's this for something big -- recruit Stephen King to collaborate on a mini-series adaption of his Dark Tower series. Name recognition and the popularity of the series should be enough to draw viewers. On a side note, does anyone else think that HBO always seems to have a crappy stock of movies playing? This is the exact problem I've noticed for quite awhile. Their collection of movies has become rather stale. Just browse the moves available on On Demand. Largest cable television network and they can only muster 30 movies? Most of which are recent and crap? Not good. Encore has a much more diverse collection of movies. Both on the network and available through On Demand. Encore Mystery is probably my favorite channel.

I was just using one as an example. I know there are other issues, such as: the young couple dealing with a long term monogamous relationship, the couple unable to conceive, and the older couple. I'm scared enough about the prospect of being married one day, I don't need a television show haunting me.

LOL... One of the most important things to remember about any relationship is that it is what you make it, and it revolves around love and respect. As long as you have those two all the other things - trust, compassion, understanding, etc.. - fall into place.

Personally, I wouldn't consider that horror, that series was almost science fiction (and f-ing amazing)... The stories are his master work, they pretty much encompass everything he has ever written, going back and forth in time. And Roland was based off of Clint Eastwood, who would play him now?
