Kalapse
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 11, 2007 -> 09:38 PM) That was the most impressive non-homer Richar hit this year. That was the sort of thing you see from very good major league hitters. I still think Danny Richar is going to be a hell of a player for this team in the not too distant future. SoxAce
QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Sep 11, 2007 -> 09:43 PM) What will it take to keep Gonzalez away from this franchise, a deportation? He was the first person in my life as a sox fan that I've yelled numerously whether it be "God you f***ing suck" or "Go to someone elses' minors and stay there" in nearly my 21 years living on this earth as a sox fan. Congrats Andy.
Gregory Pratt
Why do we give Andy so much s***? He came here when he doesn't belong in the Majors, works hard, plays hard, has an alright approach at the plate, hustles...so he sucks, so what? He isn't, say, a slacker. He isn't hard to root for just because he sucks. Take it easy.

He's only playing the positions major leaguers don't want to play.
Gregory Pratt
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 11, 2007 -> 09:54 PM) Hopefully Andy will start the 2008 season with the South Georgia Peanuts where he belongs. I agree he doesn't belong anywhere near a ML team, but like I said, I don't hold his mediocrity against him. At least he has decent at-bats, despite the fact that he can't hit worth a s***. Kalapse
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 11, 2007 -> 10:04 PM) Mike Myers must pitch an inning a game as well. Darin Erstad must start at least 5 times a week and 90% of his GP must be starts as well. Also, Luis Terrero must be buried on the bench while Scott Podsednik gives Josh Fields 2 days off a week. ottawa_sox
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Sep 11, 2007 -> 10:47 PM) Why do we give Andy so much s***? He came here when he doesn't belong in the Majors, works hard, plays hard, has an alright approach at the plate, hustles...so he sucks, so what? He isn't, say, a slacker. He isn't hard to root for just because he sucks. Take it easy. Internet message boards breed this type of venomous, personal attack wherever the bottom line (performance)is compromised. It gets beyond tiresome. I don't pretend to know the players and their personal habits very well, but, as an example, I've heard Podsednik works very hard on his conditioning, perhaps too much and is very hard on himself when he feels he has let his team down. I understand people here not wanting him on this team, what with the injuries, lack of power, noodle arm and the prancing. But the personal insults which rail against his integrity and desire to be a worthy contributor make me very sad and (for some reason) somewhat embarrassed. southsideirish71
QUOTE(ottawa_sox @ Sep 11, 2007 -> 10:15 PM) What was impressive about the Richar hit? Takes a high outside pitch and drives it into left field for a double down the line. Nice swing and he went with the pitch.
Kalapse
Andy Gonzalez' SLG% is .272 his ISOp is 74. Jerry Owens' SLG% is .293 his ISOp is 47. It's REALLY hard to put up numbers like these.

SoxAce
QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 11, 2007 -> 10:40 PM) Logan has not been great every outing this season. He's been horrid at times. And your just gonna be done with him like that? Basically what you saying is f*** this 23 year old kid (basically rookie/1st full season in the bigs) who is putting up a decent era, improved basically in every category this season and lefties have absolutely no chance against him. (Also consider he didn't even make the big league club even though he should have.) Let's not give him a chance next season to see him improve again and gain more experience, let's get rid of him. Kalapse
QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 11, 2007 -> 10:40 PM) Logan has not been great every outing this season. He's been horrid at times. Just like 99.9% of the relievers in baseball. Luckily he's been pretty damn good in the outings in which he's faced good lefty hitters, sort of like the Phillies game where he K'd Victorino, Utley and Howard in the bottom of the 8th. That was rather impressive.
greg775
I don't want to give up on him. But don't you think he'll be a specialist against lefties? He's been the second best reliever behind Bobby. I was just saying he made me cuss at the TV a few times. He was the same as the other relievers during that stretch where the bullpen stunk every night.
