IlliniKrush
QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jan 30, 2008 -> 09:01 PM) f***ing Khabibulin is worthless. Hey, whatever makes you feel good about yourself. SoxFanForever
We are getting lit up tonight. P.S. How come Arnason never did that on the Hawks? He just ate pizza and got fat. Edited January 31, 2008 by SoxFanForever

Savvy needs to go, and DT needs to start taking offers on Havlat-Nik-Lang. And considering the timing of it with Savvy's last postgame presser...I think it says a lot. Perrault scores. Yeehaw. No other observations about the entire team's s*** play, I'll assume. Savvy might not survive this road trip. How does Khabibulin being awful make me feel good about myself, yeah, the team played like crap... the moment I posted that he had let in one of the weakest goals I've seen. Khabibulin let in two incredibly weak goals in the first period. Sure, the team was playing poorly, but midway through the 2nd it easily could have been 2-1, not 4-1. Trust me, it's a lot less demoralizing to a team when you're down 1 goal, not 3... that had a HUGE effect on the rest of the game. I don't get why nothing bad can be said about Khabibulin without bring up the rest of the roster. If he plays poorly, he plays poorly, and if I want to bring it up, I will, because it was blatantly obvious to anyone watching. He let in two softies that shouldn't even be going in during rat hockey. He was brutal. That is all. As for Savvy, time will tell. It seems like with Havlat's back-talk to Savvy as well as the poor performance last night (there wasn't much effort all-around) that the team might be quitting on him soon. Or, it just might be high-time to get Lalime back in net so we can win some games! I still think we need to sell some of these vets who actually have some value, especially Lang whom any contender would be happy to have. If you think goaltending is the only issue (which is all you ever post about), good luck.

If you think goaltending is the only issue (which is all you ever post about), good luck. Man, I never said I was the resident hockey expert, and I post about more than just goaltending. Lay off it and stop trying to start things. Khabibulin is the highest paid player on this team. He deserves to be held accountable moreso than say, Adam Burrish. If Bulin were playing like he was signed to (not his fault he got offered so much) then this team is in that game last night. Two of the first period goals were awful unless you consider the horrible angle he took on the first goal not his fault or his gaping 5 hole on the trickling puck for the 3rd goal not incredibly weak. I guess that's your call. He's been brutal and outplayed by Lalime, and at this point the Hawks should play the 'tender who gives them the best chance to succeed, and that's not Khabibulin. As for Forsberg, I doubt he'd sign here and he's not really what this team needs. Chances are he's going to a Cup Contender for a run here and will sit out half of next year or so. I think with Havlat we've already got one glass player too many! Edited January 31, 2008 by Steve9347

CWSGuy406
QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Jan 31, 2008 -> 08:27 PM) These guys are still a Top 3 forward, Top 2 defenseman and top Goalie away from really competing... They're "competing" fine even without those listed above. How many games have Toews and Havlat missed combined? That doesn't even bring up other valuable players like Williams, Sopel and Wisniewski who have all missed several games. The Hawks really aren't terribly far away. When everyone's healthy, I'd say they're anywhere from the 7th-10th best team in the West (that's an unscientific observation, so don't put too much into that). Tallon's job this summer should be identifying ONE guy to go after -- be it Campbell or even someone like Hossa. He can't go all willy-nilly with money -- he's gotta earmark a good chunk of that money for guys like Seabrook, Keith, Wizzer, and hell, looking down the line a bit, Toews and Kane. Of course, I don't know if Savard is the guy who's going to lead them to where they (eventually) need to be -- and that might be a bigger issue than the actual players on the team. EvilJester99
Well if DT only goes after one guy it should be Hossa. I am actually satisfied with the play of the D for the most part. Sure they could use someone but the D has played well for the most part. By the competing part I mean for the Cup and not to make it as an 8 seed. I am actually satisfied with the play of the D for the most part. Sure they could use someone but the D has played well for the most part. By the competing part I mean for the Cup and not to make it as an 8 seed. The only problem with Hossa is that he's going to get both a lot of money and a lot of years -- he'll almost certainly be looking for what Daniel Briere got (8/$52), and that's a lot of money to have tied up when you're going to have to pay Kane and Toews big bucks during most of those years as well. Tallon would get ripped apart for standing pat, but really, would the following group be so terrible? Kane - Toews - Havlat Sharp - Lang - Skille Ruutu - Kontiola - Williams Bourque - Bolland - Burish Dowell/Eager (Note: This obviously isn't going to happen and at this point, I'm speculating waaay too much and waaay too far into the future -- much more than I care to do.) EvilJester99
Well I actually don't think Havlat is going to be around next season...speculation purely but from things that have gotten out about him not many people care much for him and now it appears he isn't even trying to play hard. They have GOT to get healthy first. They have a lot of talent on this team. It would be nice if they had an anchor Dman for special teams, and another scorer, but if they could just keep the guys they have on the ice, that would be worth at least just another 10 points this year. That would put the Hawks in the playoffs as the 7th seed.

DBAHO
Who would take on Havlat though, and what type of offer would the Hawks consider for him? Also on Savard, I think compared to past coaches this franchise has had over the next decade, he's pretty good. Injuries have really just decimated this team. A player such as Jason Williams who is really underrated (his impact on the PP for example) hasn't played for ages, and I'd just like to see what Savard could do with this team when everyone is completely healthy. He may not get that chance though.
