StatManDu
Jerry Owens' 32 stolen bases were the most by a Sox rookie since John Cangelosi's White Sox and AL rookie record (since broken) 50 steals in 1986. ... Owens' 32 steals are the fourth-highest output by a rookie in Sox annals behind Cangelosi, Rollie Zeider (49 in 1910) and Tommie Agee (44 in 1966). Dick Allen
Owens is no better than Cangelosi either. KW and Ozzie will rue the day they give this guy the CF job if it comes to that.

Could he be "hidden" in LF much the way Pods was in 2005. If the Sox had Rowand/Hunter/Jones in CF and Dye in RF, maybe Owens could take on the Pods role of 2005. ... Dick Allen
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 15, 2007 -> 01:12 PM) .339 after the AS Break as a rookie. .361 in AAA Charlotte before his callup this year. Cangelosi's was .349 as a 23 year old rookie. Shockingly, Cangelosi had a .370 lifetime OBP. Of course he was usually platooned. He had a lifetime .319 slugging pct. This guy is probably a good comparison to Owens. A guy off the bench would be fine. A regular and you don't have a championship calibur team.
