Brian
Season starting soon. Everyone's favorite mustache is likely done for the year. Adam Morrison tears his ACL. Ouch. I'll get it over with...
Palehosefan
Might as well play him in a wheel chair, not like it's going to affect his defense. He was ready to take Gerald Wallace's SF spot away from him... teehee. But seriously, this is the season where Felton can catch up to Deron and Paul's level. He has Richardson, Wallace, Okafor, and Brezec in his lineup now.
DBAHO
Yeah I took Deron Williams in 6th - 7th rounds in fantasy drafts last year (much to Willie's chagrin), and I've been doing the same with Felton this year. They've got a new PG coach for him, Sam Vincent is going to have a more up-tempo style, and if Felton can improve his %'s, he'll be a top 30 fantasy player IMHO. Anyways, I'm quietly optimistic for my Magic this season, albeit we do have injury concerns. Battie's out for the season, and Lewis and Ariza are banged up. Still I like our offensive system of basically having Dwight in the middle and 4 shooters in Nelson, Redick, Lewis and Turkoglu around him. With an increased pace, we should average over 100 points per game this season I'm thinking. And SVG's a very underrated coach, and we've looked pretty good this pre-season. Top 4 in the East isn't beyond us this season.
Palehosefan
Heat are about to deal Antoine Walker, Michael Doleac, Wayne Simien, and possibly a future 1st rounder to the T-Wolves for Ricky Davis, and Mark Blount. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3077037 As a Heat fan, I love this deal. More scoring, rebounding, and get rid of Walker's contract, even if it costs an extra 1st. Might as well make 1-2 more runs at a championship while Shaq can still walk. Minnesota also gets a chance to let Foye, McCants, and Brewer get most of the 2-3 minutes and grow.
Balta1701
That would be an intelligent move for both sides. Walker probably gets bought out, and the Wolves dump at least 1 bad contract in the process. Edited October 24, 2007 by Balta1701
Brian
Was hoping the Heat would keep Walker because he sucks.
DBAHO
If Davis could only learn some defense and not be a "Me - First" player. But maybe Riley will get through to him. As an Orlando fan, I'm not really happy with the deal, because the Heat are better today than what they were yesterday.
Palehosefan
I was shocked to see Davis' 4.8 apg number. The Heat don't really need his defense, but rather an offensive minded player to fill in for Wade's relative absence, that and to get rid of Walker's lazy, albatross contract, self. I would bet you will see alot of Alonzo Mourning as a PF next to Shaq with Haslem backing him up.

I would bet you will see alot of Alonzo Mourning as a PF next to Shaq with Haslem backing him up. I'll be surprised if we see much of that. Mainly because I'll be surprised if all of their front court will be able to stay healthy and on the court for the majority of games.
Palehosefan
That's the nice part about having Haslem and Blount as back-ups. Shaq won't make it through a full season ever again, neither will Zo.
DBAHO
I thought Haslem would be starting at PF palehosefan, with Blount and Mourning off the bench? Blount can score quite good for a C, he just can't rebound whatsoever.
Palehosefan
Zo played well beside Shaq when given the chance last year and he's more productive than Udonis in his limited time. Still, I don't see Zo playing more than 20-25 mpg even if he starts, he can't handle much more.
Balta1701
Applauding Paxson again. Denver Nuggets guard J.R. Smith ran afoul of the law by pouring champagne on a woman at a nightclub, then briefly apologizing before spitting on her, shoving her and tearing her dress, court records show. The Oct. 13 clash led the Nuggets to suspend Smith for the first three games of the season. A 22-year-old Englewood woman told police she was at the DC10 club in Denver when Smith poured Moet champagne on her, according to a summons charging the guard with assault, destruction of property, and disturbing the peace. As the club closed for the night, the woman said Smith "apologized to the victim. Then (he) changed attitude and spit on her, used his hand to push her face, and tore her dress," according to the police report. The woman called police, who arrived to find her in the torn dress. She had no other apparent injuries, the report said. Smith, 22, then told the officer "he was very (drunk and) doesn't remember everything" that happened at the club, according to the officer's notes on the summons. Smith, who was suspended for "conduct detrimental to the team," has publicly apologized to his teammates without specifying his conduct. He is scheduled to appear in court Monday. Balta1701
Um... Technically, it turns out every single NBA referee was crooked, after all -- although none of them are going to be punished for it. And, strange as it may seem, those very same referees will now be permitted to gamble in a multitude of ways. That development, along with a reduction in duties for league executives Stu Jackson and Ronnie Nunn, were revealed Thursday by NBA commissioner David Stern following the league's Board of Governors meeting. Stern said an internal review had found that all of the league's 56 referees violated the contractual prohibition against engaging in gambling, with more than half of them admitting to placing wagers in casinos. But Stern said none of the violations was major, and no referees had admitted to wagering in a sports book or with a bookie. "Our ban on gambling is absolute, and in my view it is too absolute, too harsh and was not particularly well-enforced over the years," Stern said. "We're going to come up with a new set of rules that make sense." "It's too easy to issue rules that are on their faith violated by $5 Nassau, sitting at a poker table, buying a lottery ticket and then we can move along," Stern said. "And by the time I got through and I determined going into a casino isn't a capital offense ... I'm the CEO of the NBA and I'll take responsibility." fathom
Very possibly the biggest longshot I've ever seen make the NBA. He was a walk-on who never averaged over 5 ppg in college. He simply made the Hawks on hustle. Couldn't happen to a nicer human being. http://www.ajc.com/sports/content/sports/h...owest_1026.html

whitesoxfan101
First of all, I stand corrected on J.R. Smith. Second, don't look at LaMarcus Aldridge's numbers from tonights game. Third, Deron Williams is pretty good. And last, GO BULLS!! Can't wait to be at the home opener Friday.
DBAHO
Question, would you take Deron Williams if you were building a team as your PG right now, over say a Chris Paul? Personally, I'd would LOVE Deron on the Magic. He's got the size to handle anyone defensively, yet he's atheltic enough to create his own shot and dish off the rock. Amazing how Williams and Paul went 3 and 4, and the 2 guys in front of them in Bogut and Williams really haven't done anything.
