i really dont pick sides when it comes to global warming, and in fact i tend to agree with coleman that it is an overblown media pushed thing (which isnt to say its not occuring) but it would certainly be nice if he actually provided some evidence other than simply saying i have read a bunch of papers, talked to a bunch of people and i know i am right

I agree with you that something more would have been useful, and I was hesitant to post this for that very reason. I decided it was worth worth posting because of who he is more than what he had to say.

i'll see if i could find it but the guy who started up the Weather Channel also came out recently against the global warming hoopla.

This IS the guy who started the Weather Channel.

We do realize that weathermen do not study long term climate change? Just making certain we're all on the same page. And I'm not even certain he is a meteorologist. So the debate goes on, and an aged personality, now reduced to an independent tv station in California, get one last drink from the Fame Chalice

Just a side note. He was the first GM, but it seems he was never more than an employee. Landmark actually founded the station. Coleman was out in less than a year.

As I recall, most of the long-running weathermen in Chicago were/are a bit loony.

Nah, the "evil one" easn't loony. The pilot guy...was it Tilman? I can't believe I am forgetting his name. I always considered him "evil" or something due to the fact that he seemed to always be right. Nobody should ever be right that often. I loved him on the news. What the heck was his name???

Jim Tilman, NOBODY and I mean NOBODY took weather more seriously then Jim Tilman.

He also was/is the Ch. 5 aviation expert as he was a commercial pilot. Anytime there was a plane issue (crashes mostly) he would get to sit at the desk and give the lowdow. This was when news was about passion and not the crap we get now.

Tilman, John Drummond, Fahey Flynn, Johnny Morris, Bill Curtis. Chicago still turns out some good one's Lester Holt
