Where were you

6:05 start killed them. Most people in the burbs can't get home and back to the ballpark that fast.

I live in the city but work in the NW burbs. Getting to Comiskey by 7PM requires me to leave work an hour early. According to yahoo, attendance was 19555. I thought there were more than that there, but then again I am terrible at guestimation.

I heard there were were some cop freebies that weren't counted so who knows, its possible we had more ... great crowd none the less

That's what Dave Wills said on the postgame show on ESPN-1000... Said the "real attendance" was probably closer to 23,000-24,000.

Who the f*** cares?

It's the only thing the Cubs fans can talk about Sox-related

When your team is tanking and your archrival is exploding (don't lie, Cub fans... You'd take 1 win over the Sox over 1,000 wins over the Cardinals any day of the week), you tend to resort to stupid arguments and petty name-calling.

Someone better get all the Cubs to put on their personal floation devices 'cuz they're sinking fast.

to be honest, with a baseline of about 12,000, attendance for weeknight games really cant be measured on the scale we usually think of.

That is why I agree with CW, in that tonight was fine.

Jas, was right on that if we win they will come.

To extend on that, if we win, the fans will come, and the Sox will spend money and will become a dynasty.

I've always felt the best cure for baseball on the South Side is to win and go deep if not win it all and keep doing it consistently to build your fan base back and to prove that this team is going to go for it.

Ken Williams is putting it out there and trying and I'm pumped about this season.

whoa, whoa, whoa...

lol, baby steps. we are talking about the Chicago White Sox. Historically tight wallets, historically terrible in the playoffs, historically hardly in the playoffs. You have to be careful how you throw around that word 'dynasty'.

I see what you are saying though, unfortunately money has to be spent wisely...historically sox have often put there money in the wrong place.

The Mets spend a s***load more than the sox can even dream about spending...and look how that has turned out.

we seem to be spending it right rather than overspending on lesser lights

right now we are doing ok. (konerko, and valentin are iffy, but nobody could have foreseen konerko's fall).

What I am saying is that if we get a lot of money, we have to be sure to spend it wisely and not spend a lot of money on experiments and risks.

19555 but it looked like 24000

The 19 and some change was the announced paid attendance. Tonight was Chicago Police and Fire Night according to AM 1000. Not sure if those tix are included in the attendance figures since cops and firemen get them for half price. Additionally, the RF seating area was reserved for Great Lakes Naval Academy recruits that start basic training tomorrow AM..... free of charge to the recruits and their families. AM 1000 said there was easily 25,000+ in attendance. Too bad there wasn't more  ..... they missed a good one.
