Molto
http://www.soxnet.net/september22.html Buehrle Wins #19 as Sox Sweep Twins SN Report #338- By Mario Scalise - September 22nd, 2002 It wasn't Buehrle's best performance of the season, but it was good enough to pick up his 19th win as the Sox swept the Twins with an 8-2 victory. The win now leaves Buehrle one shy of 20 with only one start remaining, that coming this Saturday against the Twins in Minnesota. The Sox ruled the game offensively again. While the Twins managed just two runs off twelve hits, the Sox scored eight runs off nine hits, bringing the series run total to 32, 24 more than the Twins (8). After a rather long opening inning, Buehrle was given quick support by Frank Thomas with a two-run homer to straight away center. It was Thomas' 27th home run of the season. After an AJ Pierzynski RBI-single in the second to cut the Sox lead in half, The Sox added a third run in their half of the inning. After Liefer doubled, and advanced to second on a Joe Crede groundout to first, Aaron Rowand hit a sac fly to left center to score him. A Frank Thomas single drove in a run, his 3rd of the game and 90th of the season, to put the Sox up 4-1 in the third. An inning later the big blow came. With Crede and Rowand on second and third, second baseman D'Angelo Jimenez hit his first home run in a Sox uniform, putting the Sox up 7-1. Jimenez went 2-4 for the game and now has 11 RBI's since being traded over from the Padres. Buehrle gave up just two runs in the six innings he pitched, the second coming in the fifth off a Tori Hunter double play grounout with men at the corners. Luis Rivas scored on the play. Antonio Osuna came in for a scoreless seventh and eighth, and now has a 3.90 ERA. Damaso Marte pitched a scoreless ninth. Magglio Ordonez went 1-4, but made it count with a solo homer, his 36th of the season, in the eighth inning off J.C. Romero. That was the only run given up by the Twins bullpen who threw four innings in relief of starter Joe Mays. Mays was roughed up, like Radke and Reed in the first two games, for seven runs in four innings. Jeff Liefer went 1-4 while playing first for the injured Paul Konerko (foot). Joe Crede went 1-4. Carlos Lee and Aaron Rowand showed off their arms in the third on back-to-back plays. After Dustin Mohr hit a liner off the wall in left field, Carlos Lee played it perfectly before making an off balance throw for a perfect strike at second base. Mohr unfortunately beat the throw, but didn't have the same luck the next time. On a Torie Hunter fly out to deep center, Aaron Rowand nailed Mohr at third, who was tagging up. The Sox will have Monday off before hosting the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday at 7:05 PM CT on FSN. The Sox will send Jon Garland to the mound against left-hander Casey Fossum.
