Another question here:

I have a dilemna that may or may not be important to my question, but I'll give the background anyways. I'm taking a Macro-Econ course this semester that is taught by the same professor that I took last semester for Micro-Econ. For this class, I feel like all I'm doing is memorizing stuff for the tests and not truly learning anything -- she basically uses Powerpoint or an overhead projector and has us copy everything that's on the PP/projector. I probably made a mistake taking her for a second semester, but I like familiarity and comfort in my classes, so since I knew what to expect (don't have to buy a book, homework is only once a week done electronically, no quizzes and three tests), I just took her anyways.

I don't know if I had to say all that, but -- I'd like to actually feel like I'm learning something so... anyone have any recomendations for a good economy (doesn't have to focus on macro, as I'll explain) book? This doesn't (necessarily) have to be a school-type book -- an 'application' book would be great. Just something that isn't terribly difficult to understand but something that may give me a good 'economic' basis (if that makes any sense).

there's really no such thing as what you're looking for. Every economics class I've taken is different. If you know how to draw a supply/demand curve, that's really all the foundation you'll need.

You might wanna pick up this book though, it's certainly interesting and full of econ stuff.

Take a trip to your Business School's library and peruse their selection of books on economics. I'm sure they'll have dozens for you to choose from, so you can find one that appeals to you. Would probably make a great suppliment to your class and give you an edge up. One thing I regret from college is I didn't take advantage of all the libraries until my senior year.

Ehh -- I'm not really a fan of those turbos, way too much luck involved. It basically turns into an 'all-in' fest much faster than I want it to.

The trick is to catch the people that go all in with a low pair or nothing at all. Ive called and won huge pots with king high or low pair on the board. Sometimes im wrong but majority of the time I can sniff out the losers. That was extremely useful my last tourney where I was really getting crap cards the entire tourney but basicly won by people going all in with nothing and me calling them out.

I'm off to play Poker at the Crown Casino tonight where the Aussie Millions Tournament is happening at the moment (quite a lot of pro's down here as well, but sadly not Daniel Negreanu).

And that's certainly a bad beat Keith. Nothing like getting sucked out on the river.

Well I had a very interesting night.

I played on the $20 tables, and I had a few Canadiens, two Brits and a American (who all he had in his possesion was his passport and fake rolex).

And I think one of the Brits was actually this guy, he was calling himself Foxy, and he was burning money like crazy. Other people on the table said he could easily afford it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stuart_Fox

I only put in $20 and finished up $127 so I was happy.

Got to see a bit of the Aussie Millions action on the TV Screen also, saw Andy Black get knocked out.

hold up a sign that says "Soxtalk.com ruleZZZZ!"

I honestly thought about something like that cause they were literally 2 feet in front of my desk. The cute reporter looked back at me in annoyance cause I was laughing a little loudly.

I'm thinking about getting a pet fish and naming it "Chivalry"...

so when it dies, I can definitively say that "Chivarly" is, in fact, dead.

Fish suck.

Most of the fish my boys get never last longer than 6 months or so. Except one time the older son went fishing with his grandpa, and brought home one of the minnows they had left to put in his tank. That thing lasted over 2 years and outlasted 3 or 4 goldfish, some kind of alge eater and one other kinda fish that I have no idea what it was, a fancy guppy or something along those lines.

Cleaning tanks suck. Never again.

Ya I used to have some Oscar's and they were like probably about 10 inches long and their crap was like human baby crap. The tank had to be cleaned daily.
