I've never posted in this thread before, much less read much of it. There's some pretty weird s*** in here.

Your sig is pretty "weird s***" on its own there Ed. ;)

You should read 2007's Catch-all.

Even better.

Okay, so it's 4 am and I still haven't gone to bed yet...

...from yesterday. I'm about to crash. My sleep schedule is so messed up.

Sleep is seriously overrated. I got to drive a friend to class in like 3 hours, I feel like I should just pull an all nighter, definitely thinking about it at least.

The hospital that I work at takes care of the athletes of the Bulls and the Whitesox. From time to time these athletes come in with a medical problem that is not reported anywhere or it is an erroneous report to cover for whatever reason. All I can say it is difficult to not post on this info. There is no way around Hippa laws.

Scary stuff. The area about 20 miles north of me, including several ranches that friends of mine own, is burning. 1,500 acres and growing. The winds are nuts here all day today. I was in the area for a while tonoght and seeing dozens and dozens of emergency vehicles all staged and taking off is sobering. :pray

My exd-wife was an X-Ray tech at Lake Forest Hospital and saw several of the Bears. She also worked at Highland Park Hospital where we met Jordan's then wife. She had one of the boys in the ER. The most amazingly gracious person.

Saw Keith Van Horn one evening. What a huge human. Nothing fit on the standard X-ray film size.

Carbondale is literally under water right now. Absolutely nuts.

Spring is pretty crazy in Southern Illinois. Lots of ice storms melting into thunderstorms and back and forth, lots of water with nowhere for it to go. They dont quite have the drainage thing figured out yet, which is weird considering all of the man-made lakes in the area.

go take a look at the Kincaid Lake spillway right now, I bet you it looks like Niagara falls

Everything was nuts last night, Grand, Park, Wall and even 13 were all closed off for a while. Of course my friends and I are dumb asses and had to adventure around the whole damn city in shorts and were pretty much swimming in this stuff. Like you said, I'm not really sure what's up with the drainage here but it's awful, still last night is the worst I've seen it. Between this and the absolutely crazy ice storms last month(I got a big scar across my forehead for the rest of my life thanks to those), the weather has just been insane here and it sure doesn't help that people in Southern Illinois just don't know how to deal with bad weather.

Completely and utterly useless with bad weather. I would always laugh when it snowed or we got ice storms because you could guarantee at least 3 cars in the ditch on the way to school or work. They teach "slam on the brake or gas when roads are icy" at southern illinois DMVs, I am sure of it.

I personally love the 1 inch of snow and every middle and high school has to be closed.

By the time it was contained over 25,000 acres were burned and 4 homes. Fortunately it is ranch land. They are checking on livestock now. Perversely, losing homes in some cases would be less of a financial hardship then losing the cattle.

About two weeks ago, I went to the Add/Remove Programs application and deleted a few things that seemed to be useless. Unfortunately, I think I deleted something that affected the sound on my computer. My speakers no longer play any sound, and I also can't hear sound when I plug headphones directly into the computer tower. When I play a song on itunes, the song moves along but I hear nothing, and videos play in Windows Media Player, but again there's no sound.

Anybody know what I might've deleted, and how to fix it?

Is it possible that you have a system restore point that survives from that time? You can find the system restore option under system tools/accessories in your start menu.

Will that also put back all of the useless crap that I deleted?

Between that and the humidity down there in the summer it can be hell. I remember walking to bars or parties and by the time you got there you were so drenched with sweat that you just wanted to go home. Needless to say people came up with some interesting uses of Goldbond

Hate to steal your thunder Milkman, but I also have a computer problem that's been bugging me the past couple days.

I have Symantec Endpoint Protection, and it won't successfully live update. The error message is below, and it claims the problem is connecting to the internet. And that doesn't make much sense, being that I'm posting this message via the internet. Any ideas?

The following Symantec products and components are installed on your computer.

> Antivirus and antispyware definitions

> LiveUpdate

> Submission Control signatures

> Symantec Common Client Updates

> Symantec Endpoint Protection client

> Symantec Redirector

> Symantec Security Software

> Symantec Shared Components

Initializing...

Unable to connect to host

LU1814: LiveUpdate could not retrieve the catalog file of available Symantec product and component updates. Please verify that you are able to connect to the Internet and run LiveUpdate again.

LiveUpdate session is complete.
