Kalapse
If he hits 20 more this season he'll have to average only 22 a season over the next 4 years. So yes, I'd say he has a damn good shot.
Balta1701
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Apr 25, 2008 -> 01:34 PM) If he hits 20 more this season he'll have to average only 22 a season over the next 4 years. So yes, I'd say he has a damn good shot. Problem is...for him to pull that off, but not have other arguments not look as solid, he needs to keep up that HR production without losing production in other areas, i.e. what Frank has gone through since 2000 as the injuries have piled up. His power numbers have stayed solid but his legendary batting average and 1.000+ career OPS have been hurt by those last few years getting to 500+. witesoxfan
Can someone name a better team then the DBacks? Because I seriously can't. Not only in my mind are they the best team in the NL, but they're the best team in the majors...by far.
santo=dorf
Brooks Robinson's career numbers: .267 BA, .322 OBP, .401 SLG, 104 OPS+, 1232 Runs, 268 HR, 1357 RBI's, 2848 hits, 10654 AB's, .971 FP% I'm going ask the old farts here if they think Brooks is the greatest third baseman of all time. Ryan Freel told a Cincinnati Enquirer reporter that he was unhappy with his playing time this season. Freel has started just eight games this season, but he's hitting .387 with a .424 on-base percentage in those games. He's certainly out hit Corey Patterson since the first week of the season, but Patterson is a Dusty Baker favorite, and why shouldn't he be? Patterson is rocking a .298 career on-base percentage. A second base option? *waits for fathom, cheat or Kalapse to reply*
fathom
I'll take Freel over what we have at 2nd base. Heck, I'd take Todd Walker over what we have at 2nd base. Trade MacDougal for him, and call it a day. Edited April 29, 2008 by fathom

danman31
Yeah, Scherzer sent down all 13 he faced and K'd 7. I so just picked him up in the Soxtalk keeper league. Thank you very much top waiver spot.

Jordan4life_2007
As wite mentioned earlier, the Diamondbacks are a different animal right now. I don't think 100 wins, assuming they stay reasonably healthy, is out of the question. Their amatuer scouts all deserve SERIOUS raises. I've never really been jealous of another team. But the way they draft/develop talent gets me hot. The only reason we have CQ is because they draft/develop so well. witesoxfan
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 30, 2008 -> 11:56 PM) As wite mentioned earlier, the Diamondbacks are a different animal right now. I think 100 wins is likely, rather than merely "not out of the question." I'm wondering more if they won't win 105-110 games. Fantastic rotation, good bullpen, and, at the very least, a top 3 offense in the NL, and perhaps the best. In my eyes, they just outclass every team in the majors right now. Perhaps that's from beating up on s***ty NL pitching, but I don't see that right now. Thankfully the resigned Byrnes. Had they not, they'd have Quentin in LF right now. Try and imagine that.
Jordan4life_2007
Don't they have Chad Tracy coming back soon? That just makes their bench that much better. Doug Davis will eventually be back as well. So that's more pitching depth. I'm thinking of getting the MLB package just so I can watch these guys whenever I want. witesoxfan
Tracy is indeed very close to returning. He was supposed to start a minor league rehab assignment last week, so I imagine he'd be back in the next week or two. As far as Davis, I'm not sure they'll have room in the rotation for him...Webb-Haren-RJ-Owings-Scherzer is stout. Perhaps as a reliever if they don't mind paying a reliever a few million (like $6-7 I'd imagine). They are absolutely stacked. It's hard to believe that 4 years ago this team lost 111 games.
