Dusty totally mismanged the bullpen. Well, first of all the start went something like 4 innings. But then in the 10th or 11th, he brought in his long relivers, but then pulled him after 2/3rds on an inning. So after that inning, they were out of relief pitchers

The Reds have called up Jay Bruce, perhaps the most highly touted prospect in the entire minor leagues (well, until now since he's in Cincinnati). The Reds host Pittsburgh tomorrow, and Bruce is expected to start in CF, while previous CF Corey Patterson may be DFA.

The more I see Casey Kotchman the more I'm convinced that he's a left-handed version of Paul Konerko. They both even do the shoulder-shrug, bat-toss thing on grounders and flyballs.

Jay Bruce in his Major League Debut:

3-3; 2 BB, 2B, SB, 2 R, 2 RBI

He walked in his first major league plate appearance. His first major league hit came in the form of a single on his second time to the plate.

He is just unreal. The fact they were willing to trade Hamilton (although they got a hell of a return on him) is a sign of how good they think Bruce will be. And I think they're right. Also, Dunn is on fire, they need to figure out a way to keep him.

The Reds have a potential juggernaut offensive club. I didn't realize they were so good as far as drafting/developing talent. They're loaded.

Like I said when they replaced Krivsky with Jocketty...Krivsky might have made a couple mistakes, like the Kearns trade...but that team is really set to make some noise these next few years, and he won't get any of the credit.

This reminds me of the type of injury a wrestler gets when they're too juiced up....

Eric Byrnes-OF-Diamondbacks May. 30 - 4:35 pm et

Eric Byrnes said he finally underwent an MRI that showed tears in both of his hamstrings.

"It’s exactly what we thought," he said. "I have tears in my left hamstring and a tear in my right one. It’s up high on the left and down low on the right. It’s not going to really change the way we treat it. We’ve been treating it exactly how we should." Byrnes is still hoping to return in a couple of weeks, but he's not going to start running at 100 percent anytime soon. Don't expect big steal numbers over the rest of the season.

It's truly a miracle the Cardinals are still in the race. The Cubs have had the easiest early season schedule I have ever seen, are getting all kinds of bizarre wins at home, and still only lead by 2 games pending tonight's result in St. Louis. I haven't felt St. Louis is for real all year and still don't, but they've done well to hang in there so far. I should give the Astros some credit too I guess, but I still think they are just awful with the exception of the middle of their batting order, which as good as it is, will cool off.

No miracle there - it's called being bad on the road. The Cards are 4 games better...could easily be 6 down if the Cubs had stones away from Wrigley.

Jay Bruce = good, according to my sources.

I assume this is sarcasm in regards to needing sources, but the only two sources you need to see that kid is going to spend a lot of time at the all star game are eyes.

Yes, that was sarcasm

Awkward moment between Buck and McCarver. They were talking about Mariah Carey's first pitch, and McCarver goes "great boots"! He mumbled it a little, and sounded like he said boobs. Buck was quiet for about a minute.

Is Manny going to be the first player to ever hit 500 homers? Media is treating it like it.

Well he hit it, and i've seen the highlight 7 times since it's happened.

Jay Bruce with his first home run today, and it was a walkoff shot in the 10th. He's now 11 for 19 with 8 runs, 3 doubles, a home run, 4 RBI's, 2 steals, 5 walks, and only one strikeout.

Also, congrats to Manny Ramirez on home run #500 tonight. Brandon Webb also got back on track tonight, throwing a complete game 6 hit shutout with 8 strikeouts, no walks, and a 16-3 GO/AO to move to 10-2.
