Him breaking down crying in front of all his teamates afterwards is kinda weird. This guy has some emotional problems.
Brian
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 12, 2008 -> 01:08 AM) I love Milton Bradley. Dude's just so f***ing crazy it's hilarious. I love the fact that Milton Bradley tries to defend himself against those claims...by going to the press box and confronting the TV announcer. Brilliant. Brian
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that the Pirates will send Bryan Bullington back to Triple-A. Bullington has been with the team for two weeks and hasn't faced a single batter. The Pirates don't want him to spend any more time wasting away on the bench, so they'll send him back to Triple-A's starting rotation and promote Marino Salas. I had no idea he has been up. But they have Gorzellany and Snell starting and stinking it up.
Chisoxfn
Bradley is ridiculously good at baseball when he's healthy. He's a nut job, but I kind of compare him to Carl Everett that he doesn't usually do anything too stupid that you almost just have to love him, LOL. Gregory Pratt
Atlanta Braves third baseman Chipper Jones, who leads the majors with a .414 average, was scratched from the lineup Friday night against the Angels after a freak accident during batting practice. Jones fouled off a pitch, and the ball ricocheted off the crossbar at the top of the batting cage and struck him near the left eye. The Braves announced that the five-time All-Star suffered a contusion and was taken for X-rays. Jones leads Atlanta with 41 RBIs and 15 homers, including the 400th of his career on June 5. The Braves had lost all six of the games he had missed prior to the opener of their first-ever series at Anaheim. The only other series between the Braves and Angels was in 2005, while Jones was on the disabled list with an injured left foot. Atlanta dropped two of three. I don't know whether to laugh or cry. Brian
You have to see Vizquel steal home tonight. He timed it perfectly by taking off as the pitcher went into the stretch. It was a thing of beauty.

MHizzle85
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 16, 2008 -> 11:35 PM) I know I'm young, but I have NEVER seen an arm like the one Ankiel has. Unreal. Even better than Vlad or Ichiro?
Kyyle23
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 17, 2008 -> 12:56 AM) I haven't looked, but see if the Cards site has what he did tonight. I believe its better than Vlad and Ichiro for sure. Not only does Ankiel have an absolute cannon, but he can throw it through the proverbial teacup. Somewhere along his strange baseball exodus/journey he was able to regain some sort of control. He may not be able to spot his fastball from a pitchers mound, but he can certainly do it from the outfield.
Swingandalongonetoleft
It's annoying to hear a Cub or Sox player pretend to get all excited about the Chicago series only to hear the same ballplayer dismiss it as nothing special (and it's a circus, and they should only have it once, etc. etc.) a day after it's over. Chisoxfn
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 16, 2008 -> 09:56 PM) I haven't looked, but see if the Cards site has what he did tonight. Singleton was talking about how Ankiel should have hit the cut-off guy on those throws (he has a point too), but regardless those were some of the most ridiculous throws I've ever seen. witesoxfan
QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jun 18, 2008 -> 10:44 PM) Jake Peavy, off the 'roids? Have you even looked at his season stats or are you merely saying that because he had one bad outing? He's got a 2.88 ERA, is averaging 9 K/9, and he's averaging over 6 innings a start. Get real. almagest
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 18, 2008 -> 11:25 PM) Have you even looked at his season stats or are you merely saying that because he had one bad outing? He's got a 2.88 ERA, is averaging 9 K/9, and he's averaging over 6 innings a start. Get real. He's also got a 5.40 ERA away from Petco, with a .315 BAA and a 1.70 WHIP, and his May ERA was 5.17, with a 1.64 WHIP and .302 BAA. He's had 1 good and 1 not so good start this month. Now, I'm not accusing him of being a 'roider, it's just that he benefits a LOT from Petco, and needs to be a little more consistent.

He's got a 2.88 ERA, is averaging 9 K/9, and he's averaging over 6 innings a start. Get real. Well, no. He had a bad outing vs the Cubs, and then went on the DL, and if I'm not mistaken, that was his first time on the DL. Now, he has another bad outing. Just not himself since the reports came out, that's all. Take it easy. Oh, and all the stuff the guy above me pointed out.
witesoxfan
He's also had elbow problems this year too. That will hurt a pitcher, physically and statistically. I'd say he's fine but a perfect case as to why you shouldn't invest long-term into a pitcher.
Brian
Explaining what happened when Jose Reyes put up a fight when asked to leave Tuesday's game with a hamstring injury, manager Jerry Manuel joked: "I told him next time he does that I'm going to get my blade out and cut him. I'm a gangster. You go gangster on me, I'm going to have to get you. You do that again, I'm going to cut you right on the field." Manuel has been on the job for less than a week, but that has to be the leader in the clubhouse for managerial Quote of the Year. He was known as a relatively laid back manager while with the White Sox, but has apparently been sharpening his blades and taking gangster lessons since then. Reyes returned to the lineup Wednesday and went 3-for-5 with a steal, three runs and zero incidents of going gangster. Rios tried to call for a dead ball double, umps didn't give it to him, Fielder kept running. It wasn't like the ball was lost. It was sitting right there and a good call by the umps.
