whitesoxfan101
QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 10:02 PM) Cordero throwing sliders 3 inches off the plate and getting them called for strikes didn't help the Brew Crew much. Neither did their 3 errors and throwing w ild pitch to let the go ahead run score. And they are throwing Seth McClung against Edinson Volquez tomorrow. Yeah, good luck with that. fathom
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 13, 2008 -> 12:49 AM) Upton and Crawford have been non-existent this last week. You get those two guys going like they should, you don't need much else. Haven't their numbers been down all season compared to last year?
fathom
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 13, 2008 -> 12:53 AM) Yes, Crawford especially. However, without breaking out the actual stats, Upton and Crawford probably have 5 hits combined in the last 5-6 days. I have both on fantasy. You know what, I figured that when you responded so quickly. I know Pena's batting average has been awful this season as well. I hope they don't think Griffey Jr. is the answer. maggsmaggs
On Baseball Tonight, Tim Kurkijan talking about how underplayed the whole Rick Ankiel story is. What bogus? Dude was on HGH with proof. That ain't a great story, that's a dude who cheated and was caught. Geez. We can accuse all we want, but he is a guy who was caught ordering the drugs. He's a cheat not a great story. Josh Hamilton is great story -- for now at least.

YASNY
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 12, 2008 -> 10:20 PM) Bobby Murcer passed away; his comeback to the booth from a brain tumor was pretty courageous. I don't have much else to add other than RIP. I remember when he came up with the Yankees, he was supposed to be the next Mickey Mantle. Didn't quite work out that way but he was still a pretty decent ballplayer. RIP Bobby.
whitesoxfan101
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 12, 2008 -> 10:43 PM) Am I the only one who doesn't think that a guy who did Heroin is any better than a guy who did HGH? No, you are not. I was at the Brewers/Reds game tonight in Milwaukee. Seth McClung was able to hang in there against Edinson Volquez and it was just 3-2 Cincinnati, but once that Brewer bullpen got in there, the Reds were able to seperate themselves, especially in the 9th inning. Boy the Brew Crew bullpen is bad.

He's a cheat not a great story. Josh Hamilton is great story -- for now at least. Not a great story? Because he was on the Mitchell Report? This was a pitcher who lost all control and has been able to make it back as a pretty good centerfielder. This isn't a great story, but a good one. You sound like a friend of mine that is a cubs fan that whenever we mention Ankiel all he says is "he's no good without the HGH." When obviously the guy admitted to taking it, apologized and is still playing good ball.
YASNY
Greg Maddux, with a legitimate steal of 2B last night, became the oldest pitcher in ML history to steal a base.
Kyyle23
QUOTE (YASNY @ Jul 13, 2008 -> 07:07 AM) Greg Maddux, with a legitimate steal of 2B last night, became the oldest pitcher in ML history to steal a base. For some reason I just thought of Doug Flutie with the drop kick a few years ago. Two older players in their respective sports, setting records that you wouldnt really expect from them. Thats good stuff

How does a set-up man with a 4.50 ERA deserve to make the all-star game? He could the least deserving player ever. Seriously, his peripherals are good, but nearly where they were and like you said, his ERA is not even good. I hope he pitches against the AL batters because he will get lit up. Kyyle23
especially given Marmols struggles for the last month, this is quite a puzzling selection

Brian
If I was ever lucky enough to hit a walk off homer off KRod, I would relish it and show him up as much as possible. How he acted today was very bush league.

Marmol's ERA since June 1st is about 10, so he's pretty close. I'm glad Marmol is going though, he needs the time off mentally and physically and isn't getting it.
