kane0730
Interesting. I guess this guy had zero trade value. Thanks for April 07' David!
Balta1701
Man that sucks. I guess now we can officially rip KW over that deal. That one really turned out horrible for both sides. And so ends the trail of people acquired in the white flag deal, I believe.
Allsox
If the kid ever figures out how to put some movement on that fastball, he'd be pretty good. Too bad Cooper couldn't teach that to him.
Steve9347
Can someone edit the topic to include that the Dotel/Ramirez signings are official? That's the much bigger news here.

southsideirish71
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jan 22, 2008 -> 11:30 AM) I liked him a lot more than Massett. Thats disappointing to see. O well. AAArdsma has better pure stuff, but couldnt throw the white ball over the big white plate at all. If you cant throw strikes as a power reliever you are going to get decked. knightni
If he's DFA'd, someone might take his contract off of the Sox's hands through waivers. If no one claims him, he has the option of deciding whether he wants to go to AAA or not. Of couse, that all changes if he's removed from the 40 man roster. Any team out there that has room on the 40 man would be happy to have a guy with his arm. Any team with a hole at the back end of the bullpen will be happy to give him a tryout. He's yet another relief pitcher with a good shot at coming back to bite us in the arse.

witesoxfan
bummer dude, I really liked Aardsma. I assume the Sox kept Masset over Aards because Masset can actually start. It's too bad, hopefully someone likes him enough that they'll give a person in a baseball uniform for him.

But using your logic with Bartolo Colon why if the Giants didn't want him, they took Hawkins off the Cubs hands for him, if the Cubs didn't want him, they traded him straight up for Cotts when Cotts couldn't have lower market value, and the White Sox DFA him with all of their bullpen problems and pretty near maxed out financially, would anyone want him? Balta1701
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jan 22, 2008 -> 09:56 AM) cuz Aardsma doesn't cost as much at restaurants Because Aardsma has the potential to still have up-side behind him if he gets the right coach. You can still stick him in the minors for a minimum cost or put him as the 7th man out of a bullpen and try to develop him. Colon is going to cost more, is going to need time to start, is clearly on the downside of his career, and is clearly not healthy. Totally different situations. Teams don't want to waste roster spots and money on old guys who's arms are falling off. They're more than happy to waste roster spots on young, cheap guys with a small chance of turning around their careers.

KW apparently wasn't, and he was the one bragging about how no one else but he saw Aaardsma turn a corner with the Cubs in 2006.

Dick Allen
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 22, 2008 -> 01:21 PM) which DA couldn't wait to point out again Actually, I was complementing KW on not being too stubborn, and basically admitting he was wrong. He had a higher opinion about Aaardsma than just about everybody else, and he cut bait.

striker
Can't he still be traded in the next 10 days? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Designated_for_assignment I'd much rather have DFA's Masset too.
Chet Lemon
My favorite Aardsma memory will always be his wild pitch during an intentional walk in Minnesota last season.
