Very true. Although I'm somewhat surprised moving Fields to 2nd wasn't talked about more, which means to me Fields is set in stone at playing 3rd base whether it's in Chicago or Charlotte. You'd think he'd be athletic enough to play second considering he was the quarterback at Oklahoma State, but he might not fit the scheme, anyways maybe we shouldn't come after him though, he's a man but he's not 40.

The White Sox sent a scout to Scottsdale to watch San Francisco left-hander Noah Lowry pitch against Texas.

The scout didn't see much to get excited about, according to a witness.

Lowry walked seven and heaved two wild pitches in the first inning.

In the second, Lowry walked the first two batters on nine pitches, then threw a pickoff attempt into the stands before Giants manager Bruce Bochy pulled him. Lowry didn't strike out any of the 12 batters he faced.

Lowry is signed through 2009 at about $6.75 million, but the Sox might be better served settling for a package of prospects including left-hander Jonathan Sanchez in any deal involving third baseman Joe Crede.

Lowry walked 9 batters in 1+ inning?

IP: 1.0 H: 0 R: 4 ER: 4 BB: 9 SO: 0 HR: 0 ERA: 23.14

At least he didn't give up any hits.

Like I said before, some time soon Lowry is going to have another MRI and they're going to see structural damage in that elbow then he's going to sit on the bench for a year and a half.

Noah Lowry was pulled from his start Monday after walking nine batters in one-plus innings against the Rangers.

This is getting quite alarming. Lowry walked three, hit a batter and threw two pitches to the backstop in his first outing last week. He had a couple of more sail to the backstop today. It appears that he's either injured or he's suddenly gone Rick Ankiel on the Giants.

It has also been said that white sox scouts were present at the game.

So who still wants this trade to happen?

Maybe he doesn't want to come here.

I'd like to see them try to fill in their minors again to make up for the players that they dealt.

If they did target someone like a ML pitcher...albeit Lowry seems no longer to be an option...one thing that could always be done is to spin that pitcher off to the national league, where there are probably 10 teams who could use a guy who will do nothing other than give them an ERA of 5 over 175 innings.

He looks like he would fit right in with last year's pen. :D

If the Sox trade Crede just for the sake of doing it I say shame on KW. Lowry is not equal to Crede. I think we need to keep Joe and also Fields who could step in for Konerko or Thome in a year or so. Think future here.

I love the delicious irony of someone who is trying to move players under control for more than this year, for the sake of a player who is a FA and has boras as his agent.

Keeping thinking of that future.

the fact that you are suggesting to replace Konerko or Thome with Crede is insulting to those two

Giants pitcher Noah Lowry was diagnosed with tendinitis in his left wrist and sent back to San Francisco to see a hand specialist.

"It's frustrating," Lowry said, who is expected to miss at least three days. "You go out there and you want to compete at the level that you know you're capable of competing at and sometimes your body doesn't allow you to do that. At this level you have to be right physically. Right now it's not."

After consulting with manager Bruce Bochy and team trainers, Lowry met with Dr. Gary Waslewski on Tuesday in Scottsdale. A series of tests revealed the injury.

Later in the afternoon Lowry boarded a plane for the Bay Area and was scheduled to meet with Dr. Gordon Brody, the Giants' hand specialist. He is expected to return to Arizona on Wednesday.

Lowry will take anti-inflammatories and wear a splint on his left thumb for the next few days. He will not do any throwing, making it almost certain he'll skip his next scheduled start on Saturday.

If the splint is for his thumb then he probably has an injury called De Quervain's syndrome. It is a tenosynovitis related to tendons that bring your hand toward your thumb side and lift your thumb up. This happens in pitcher's from decelerating your wrist if you snap your wrist too much during your breaking pitches. Rest and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory meds are the best way to treat it. It should not be a long term problem but will set him back for spring training
