If Carlos Quentin doesn't start getting two hits a night again and hitting gappers and homers, we are in deep s***.

Five of six losses, lethargic play against the Rockies.

how does it make other sox fans feel to know we're the worst 1st place team in all of baseball? personally, it makes me feel like sh** and lately i'm just in a bad mood and it's reflecting while i'm at work as well, i mean i can't help that i absolutely LOVE baseball and I love the sox, i don't care how bad they're playing... i'll never change how much i love this team, but at the same time, i wear my sox emotions on my sleeves and it sucks

this team is just baseball retarded when it comes to hitting a baseball, and honestly they've been this way for quite some time..

The Sox are 38-31, which is a .551 winning percentage, or an 89 win pace.

The DBacks are 37-33, which is a .529 winning percentage, or an 86 win pace.

The Sox aren't the worst first place team and so "knowing" it is more like "thinking" it, because statistically, the Sox are only the second worst first place team in all of baseball. Hope you sleep better at night having learned this knowledge.

i was not speaking relative to win/loss record, but more towards the flawed design of our offense, as well as our hitters inability to adjust to soft-tossing lefties and crush anything that isn't a fastball

arizona has a pretty well-rounded offense, they can score off the homerun and manufacture runs. this team seems to be shut-down rather easily, and has become more and more frequent despite facing teams that the rest of the league has no problems with.

Arizona started off really hot, but they have really crashed to earth in the last two months( April 19-8, May 11-17, June 6-8). They also have a streaky offense, but it is due to the relative youth of the offense. Mark Reynolds (84), Justin Upton (82), and Chris Young (72) are all on pace for more than 150 strikeouts this year, yesterday on the Score they were listing home and away average and OBP and Upton and Reynolds were in the tops for home and the bottom for away.

There are plenty of flaws in the Arizona's offense, we just dont have to watch it every day

Yours is still an opinion dude, because statistically, Arizona is a worse team.

I did not realize this, but entering tonight, Crede's splits:

vs. left .100 (5 for 50), .211 OBP, .120 SLG, .331 OPS with 1 RBI, 6 walks, and 7 k's

vs. right: .337/.401/.663/1.064 in 175 AB's. 15 HR, 34 RBI, 17 walks, 24 k's.

Strange, as his career left/right splits are almost dead even.

what I'd like to know is has anyone ever seen Crede's stats for say, the first 4 or 5 innings of games versus the last 4 or 5? It's gotta be way different.

Career splits from baseball reference.

AB R H HR RBI SO BA OBP SLG OPS tOPS+

Innings 1-3 791 95 196 31 128 127 0.248 0.288 0.431 0.719 88

Innings 4-6 1006 130 259 53 151 128 0.257 0.299 0.464 0.763 99

Innings 7-9 824 111 228 36 120 127 0.277 0.341 0.46 0.801 112

Innings 10+ 41 6 11 3 12 7 0.268 0.304 0.512 0.817 111

Clearly gets better as the game goes on, OPS, OPS+ etc all go up by a fairly large amount.

DO NOT SHOW THIS TO BORAS

Like it or not, just the fact that he's already sitting on what, 15 dingers this year has probably assured him that someone will offer him 5/$60 this offseason.

And he deserves it.I will be happy to see Joe get it and I wish it was from us whether it be a Boras highsale or not.

I really like the look of this team without Konerko. We are scoring runs without his pop outs and DPs to the shortstop with one out. If the sox keep on winning like this I say keep paulie on the bench.

On the other hand we really aren't getting a lot of production from Anderson/Wise who are basicly Konerko's replacement since Swisher moves to first. So, unless you have a good hitting CF we should trade for in mind Konerko would provide a huge lift to this offense.

well it's not as though Paulie was doing that much until recently anyways so it really makes no difference. at least those two wont pop up twice a game with a 6-4-3 dp.

If you think those 2 would give you near the offensive output that you can get from Konerko... well simply put, your crazy.

I've been thinking, and we need to get an OF who can hit and play CF. I think the most realistic way to improve our offensive woes would be to pretty much have the hypothetical guy I was talking about switch in with Swisher, Dye, Thome, and Konerko depending on the matchups and who's hot and who's not. Randy Winn would be a good fit for my idea. Plus, Winn should be available for probably not that steep of a price.

Sox inabilty to get guys over and the pen just HORRID!

i hope ozzie stops giving Dotel a ROLE. seriously. everytime i watch this guy pitch, he gives up a f***ing homerun. I'd rather watch Thornton face a righty than Dotel right now. at least thornton's splits are about the same vs righties and lefties, and he has a lot more velocity behind his pitches
