So today at my side job, at a sports store, I bet a customer that the Sox would finish with a better record then Texas. If the Sox do, he owes me 2 authentic jerseys (official game jerseys for whatever team, whatever color, and whatever player). If the Rangers do, I owe him the same. And, don't say we're betting nothing because these jerseys START OUT AT $200 each.

I figure he has no chance, with the Sox being 13 over and Texas being 4 over.

Thoughts?

No chance for him. Can you spare a jersey? B)

What two players will you be getting?

For sure the black Alexei.

And then I'm not sure on the 2nd one- either the blue Felix Hernandez, gray Utley, white or black Hanley, white Pujols, or the white Hamilton. Choices, choices huh?

The 2nd one will either be mine, my brother's, or my best friend's. Sorry! :gosox3:

BBTN just graded the recent trades.

Ken Griffey Jr got an A and B, they guy who gave him an A said he is a much better CF than what Sox had.

They need to get rid of Vina. The guy talks way too fast and repeats himself and even what he says is the obvious.

Sounds like most of the "experts" on ESPN unfortunately, which is why I only watch their shows for highlights.

Anyone questioning the Uribe over Pablo move now???

Nope. But I didn't anticipate Crede going down like he did either. I was wrong.

I read something in a Philadelphia paper of all places that Joey Cora is going to get a lot of consideration for the Seattle job after the season.

Trade him for an Ichiro to be named later.

One can only hope that he gets that job...

Didn't see this anywhere:

Asked whether he expected young teammates John Danks or Gavin Floyd to be affected by the pressures of a playoff race, an honest Mark Buehrle recently remarked that Floyd’s personality type might easily allow him to be distracted.

“If anything, Gavin might be a guy that’s affected,” Buehrle said. “Danks is so laid-back, it doesn’t seem like anything bothers him. Whereas Floyd, it seems like there’s a little bit more that gets to him. A bigger situation or bigger game might get him more nervous, but Danks isn’t a guy I worry about.”

Naturally, the entire situation blew up into something of a controversy, as if Buehrle were questioning Floyd’s toughness. (Clearly, he wasn’t.) Still, the whole situation explains why people have learned to say less and less on the record.

Can’t anybody say anything anymore without someone taking it the wrong way?

I actually agree completely, both with Buehrle and the writer's comments. Sometimes having a bit of nerves is a good thing and sometimes it blows up in your face. If you are nervous, you work a bit harder at times and you get a bit of an adrenaline rush; other times, you s*** your pants or you blow your load early. I haven't seen anything from the numbers that would indicate that Gavin is a softie, like Javy apparently is (though he still has a spot in any rotation of mine). If anything, Gavin has been just as good in big games as he has in any other games and he's helped end losing streaks.

Gavin is my fav.

Before the season, if you would have told me the following would happen:

Crede gets hurt and Fields loses out on the starting 3B job to Juan Uribe

Brian Anderson splits backup CF duties w/ someone named Dewayne Wise

DJ Carrassco becomes the team's 5th starter when Count goes down

...I would have thought you were completely insane.

I'm also disappointed that the '03,'04, and '05 1st round picks couldn't grab the aforementioned spots. Anderson and Broadway are up now, so they can still contribute.

How about:

Gavin Floyd would be 12-6 with an ERA under 4 in mid August

John Danks would be 9-4 with an ERA in the low 3's in mid August

Carlos Quentin would be the leading MVP Candidate in the AL in mid August

Alexei Ramirez would be perhaps 2nd in AL rookie of the year in mid August, playing everyday at 2B and hitting over .300

Ken Griffey Jr. would be on the team, and struggling to find playing time in mid August

Paul Konerko would have missed time and have a .690 OPS in mid August

Javy Vazquez, after least season, would have an ERA of 4 and 3/4 in mid August

The White Sox would be in first place in mid August

Question about in-game between-innings music...

Late in games, I think between the 8th and 9th maybe, they show a new highlight reel at the game. It starts off with images that looked like cracked mirrors (or puzzle pieces), and then pieces slide around to make complete pictures.

If anyone happens to recognize the music playing in the background during that reel, I'd like to know what it is.
