Tomorrow against Nebraska, Mizzou will have only eight players available and only six of those are scholarship players. Stefhon Hannah, Darryl Butterfield, Jason Horton, Marshall Brown and Leo Lyons are all suspended indefinitely. Great job here by our bball team.

Even more hilarious...Mizzou is somehow still favored by 4.5 points. If you like money, you should probably bet Nebraska. Nebraska beat Mizzou twice last year and that was with a full roster of Tigers. Don't understand that line at all.

Good to see new coach, same crap with Mizzou.

For some reason, coming home and seeing Kansas lose puts a smile on my face.

No offense, Jimbo. I'm just bitter.

Doesn't happen very often, sometimes its good to be the hated team!!!!

There is our token loss for the year, no more now!!!!!(one can pray right)

f*** Beasley is good.

Billy Walker was pretty damn good too. Those two were enough, which was kind of a surprise to me, I thought Jackson would have been able to slow at least one of them up a bit.

Great win for K. State, not that big of a lose in the grand scheme of things for Kansas.

Illinois plays well again for 35 minutes, and then plays like s*** for 5 minutes to lose the game at MSU. This team can play such great defense, but they are god awful when they need a basket. I can't wait for Legion and Smith to return.

It takes more than 5 minutes of s*** basketball to score 41 points.

more like another great 20 minutes (first half) for Illinois followed by a completely pitiful 20 minutes (2nd half); so it is apparent that we cannot make FTs, make any halftime adjustments, or do anything remotely resembling an offense at the end of the game

I was glad to see Purdue sneak one out, E'twaun, had a very nice game against Wisconsin, but I wasn't able to catch this Iowa game. Nice start in the big 11 for the young group of frosh for the Boilers.

I saw it.

Another win that they just came away with vs Iowa.

For the most part the whole game they had a hangover from that win from Wisconsin.

Played pretty awful, couldn't shoot the ball the whole game, but good enough to win.

Purdue really has to get Nemanja Calasan more playing time, talking 6-9 junior who can hit a shot anywhere on the floor. Though Hummel is doing well.

I got a feeling Illinois beats the Boilers in Champaign.

Calasan seems like a big brute who struggles if he can't overpower someone. I'm fine with his limited role ( J. Johnson, more playing time to develop , YES) I'm a follower due to E'twaun Moore who I've known since his jr. high years coaching him. He has stepped up for them as their leading scorer in the past two games. Hummel and Martin I've seen play since they were Jr. high kids as well, and so far so good for the region trio.

They are not going to just "show up" and beat anybody so Illinois has a chance for sure, but the Boilers have been growing by leaps and bounds and should only continue to improve with this young bunch, so hopefully they will roll when they visit Champign

i honestly don't think adjustments have much to do with it. this team is never, ever going to be good offensively. the talent is just not there to be able to have consistent offense. i think we all suspected this would be the case before the season, it's just maddening to have to watch it play out over the course of an entire year.

it also doesn't help that this team has had an absolutely brutal schedule thus far. more than anything this team needs confidence, and it's hard to get when you play on the road against five best teams in the league in your first nine conference games. playing at wisconsin, purdue, ohio state, michigan state, and indiana is no picnic, even in a down year for the league.

Just wondering why you don't think adjustments have anything to do with it? You look at some of the great 1st halves Illinois has had this year and everything that went right goes completely wrong. Other teams adjust to what we are doing and play well in the 2nd half so how come we have a hard time figuring it out? I understand that Chester totally falls flat with less than 10 minutes in the game and it could totally be on the players too.

i just think that you can not hide this team's offensive ineptitude over the course of a 40-minute game. we are not good offensively and eventually that will catch up to us. i think you can gameplan to get guys open looks and stuff like that, but the teams we are playing are just flat-out better and more talented. over 40 minutes that will show.

i think another thing to consider is the effort that gets put into defense. i'll give this group credit, they work hard. not well, but hard. in a second half the effort they put forth on the defensive end starts to take a toll offensively. shots get shorter, drives to the basket aren't finished and fatigue is undoubtedly a factor in my mind.

plus, i think that in league play halftime adjustments are somewhat overrated. these coaches know each other so well that i really don't think weber is going to pull something out that izzo has never seen before. these guys know each other inside and out.

i also don't think it is necessarily other team's adjustments. they're just better and over a 40-minute game the better team is going to rise to the top.

i tend to go by the bum phillips philosophy: it's all about the jimmys and joes, not the x's and o's.

I didn't want to quote this whole post but I agree with a lot of it. I also think the fact there is really no go to guy plays a role in the struggles at the end of games. No one wants to shoot it except for Pruitt and teams just double him and he makes awful decisions.

I would agree with this. I think it also has to do with in the first half we were hitting shots we normally don't make. It's been that way all year. The game at Indiana was a good example of that - we hit threes and free throws in the 1st half, and then the averages catch up with us and we don't score for 7-8 minutes in the 2nd half.

And I said 5 minutes because even in the second half our defense was good enough to get the W. Really it wasn't even 5 minutes, it was the 2-3 minutes of consecutive made shots by Nietzel and their big dude that killed us.

My question after the game was what's up with Tisdale? I really cannot wait to get Pruitt and Randle out of the program. Their indifference and lack of emotion is really starting to rub off on him. Did you see those three straight fouls he had? No emotion, no care, no nothing. He just got lazy and started hacking people.

In a way i'm sort of sickened by my justification (as I NEVER thought a Weber team would finish in the bottom of the big ten), but at least the future looks bright. McCamey really shows every game a little more touch and a little more bball IQ. I think Weber still holds him back a little because of his defense, but that will come in time. Tisdale, even with his stupid decisions, has a sweet 12-15 foot shot and really has good hands for a big man.

I look forward to 2009-2011 when we're back on top of the league and competing for final four spots.
