Rex Hudler
IU survives 85-82. Coble ends up with 37, but IU hit their FT's down the stretch. Hopefully, they can find some sense of normalcy after all this by Tuesday night when Ohio State comes to Bloomington.

Brian
For the #1 team in the country, Memphis sure sucks a free throws and rebounding. That Derrick Rose guy is pretty good though.
Soxbadger
Questionable not calling the TO by Calipari. And then Pearl fouls up 3, most coaches dont have the guts. Lets see if it pays off.

danman31
QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Feb 23, 2008 -> 08:57 PM) Is that the kid that took time off from school to be with his mom during breast cancer? Yes, and he's legit good. Him and Thompson make a good young backcourt. With a few other decent younger guards in the mix, all they need is a legit big man to be respectable in a year or two. Rex Hudler
QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Feb 23, 2008 -> 10:23 PM) I'll say now that the Vols won't be making the final 4. I'm betting I will get to see them in Birmingham in the first weekend of the NCAA Tournament. I like the way they play and respect Bruce Pearl, but I find it almost impossible to root for Tennessee. At least its not football. lol Btw, how much is Tyler Smith not having to sit out under the normal transfer rules helping this Tennessee team?? thedoctor
QUOTE(fathom @ Feb 23, 2008 -> 11:54 PM) Jamar had numerous drinking tickets prior to the arrest, so please don't make it seem like this was the first time he'd ever been in trouble. it's really not all that difficult to get a drinking "ticket" at the u of i. Rex Hudler
How the hell did Illinois lose at Michigan and only score 43 points? Are the games against IU the only time they played well all season??

Are the games against IU the only time they played well all season?? Basically, they looked like they have finally quit. They have played a ton of close games against good teams this year but haven't been able to close. I think it has taken a toll on the team and the close loss against PSU broke the team's back. dasox24
Oh, how awesome was that game!? Tennessee played like s*** and Lofton only had 7 points, and we still beat the #1 ranked team in the country. I guaranteed victory for TENN on this board months ago. I just wished you all that picked Memphis to win would have listened to me Go Vols!!!

The NCAA allowed him to play this year b/c he only transfered to be closer to his father who was sick with cancer (and has now passed away). Rex Hudler
QUOTE(dasox24 @ Feb 23, 2008 -> 11:45 PM) The NCAA allowed him to play this year b/c he only transfered to be closer to his father who was sick with cancer (and has now passed away). I know why and was not inferring that anything was wrong with it. But it is unusual for a team to get such a great player without waiting. He has been a huge boost to this Tennessee team. They have other talent, but they wouldn't be in the position they are in without him.

I mean, they'd still be a very good team (i.e. last year's team was really good and all they lost was Dane Bradshaw). But, you're right, Smith has taken them to a new level. This will come off horrible, but I think that whole thing was pretty much bulls***. If he was transferring 100% for his father he should have sat out the year and spent it with him then played. And it just so happens that Bruce Peal decided to be nice to Tyler Smith when he realized that he's incredibly talented, and it just so happens that Alford just left Iowa. Interesting circumstances. Rowand44
Really wish I didn't have to miss the Tenn-Memphis game, sounded like a fun one. Congrats to Tenn, I know Evan will hate this but I still think Memphis is the better team. Changing the subject but it's really hard to not get excited about SIU, we have just pounded our opponents the last two games and this program never does that, even when the teams are great. I know this group will punch me in the gut again but right now, I couldn't be happier with what I see. Tuesday will be a huge tell as even without Ruffin, it's going to be hard to win in Peoria. And as down as the league is(and it is no where near as good as it's been the last two years), the valley still dominated the bracketbuster games today. So that's nice to see.
