Anyone seen much of UConn? IU hosts the Huskies Saturday. I have seen a little bit of them and came away impressed but not enough to have a real feel for them.

Are they much improved? Are they a player in the Big East? How good of a win would it be for the Hoosiers if they can beat them?

The big 7'2 Thabeet is a tough matchup, but UCONN is very raw and not ready for prime time. They are somewhat dangerous, but only as a middle of the road team at this point. It's a game IU should win, it would be more of a questionable loss then a marquee win at this point. Edited by JuiceCruz16

UConn is one of those teams that will make the tournament as an 8 or 9 seed and give some #1 a scare in the 2nd round IMO. Tons of talent, but very young, if they can keep that group together for next year they'd be very dangerous. IU should beat them, especially since the game is in Bloomington though, but it's a dangerous team to play, and very fun to watch.

Kansas is so far and away the best team in the nation right now......I don't even think Self can do his traditional die in the elite 8 thing with this group. And I think hell is going to freeze over when Drake and Baylor, both in the top 25, make the dance in the same year.

Far and away the best team? That's stretching it.

Best Kansas team by far since 96-97. Still don't trust Self in a tourney situation yet!!!

I'd go to war with that 97-98 squad too, very atheletic and deep as well. Who could forget LESTER Earl LOl?

I hear whay youre saying though, starting to get real psyched for thie year's bunch of Jayhawks. Darnell ohhh my. JuJu who?

Name me one close, because I haven't seen them yet. The "closest" team is Memphis, and I just don't trust a team playing in a league that awful.

Considering they played probably the toughest non-conference schedule in the country and came out unscathed, they are very good. I don't care what they do in their conference, since they've already proved what they can do against legitimately good teams. Although February 23rd is going to a sick, sick game (Tennessee).

You can't really write off North Carolina either...losing to Maryland is pretty awful, but it's not like Kansas hasn't had it's close calls (OT at home against Arizona, USC win that called for an absolute BOMB Chalmers three towards the end, and GT, who UNC struggled similarly with on the road). In terms of talent North Carolina matches them at almost every position and depth wise pretty similarly...they tend to play to the level of their competition too often, but I expect that to change.

Even though UCLA has had their struggles, you absolutely cannot write them off.

I agree with you that Kansas is the best team in the nation at this time however. They're athleticism, talent, defensive prowess (just wanted to use that word), and depth is unmatched.

I'd rank them Kansas and then Memphis and North Carolina close behind.

UNC cant play any defense, its not very good.

It's been erratic all year, yes, but I expect that to improve greatly under Roy.

If they don't improve than they're screwed, but their talent alone will get them places.

I'm waiting until Kansas actually has to play someone. 14 out of 19 games have been played at home. The toughest competition so far has been playing at 11-6 USC. Pretty easy to pile up defensive statistics against that schedule. Playing at Kansas State should be a telling game.

I'm sorry tell me again who UNC has played???? KU went on the road and pummeled the 3rd place team in the ACC. Palehose, your history is not too good..KU loves Bramledge arena. I love the type who says " but they have not played anybody good yet" It sounds like KU football critics, and then we go ahead and beat the #3 team in the nation. Then we will beat Kstate and you say, i wont belive them until they play...........????

Same thing they said in '05. that worked out pretty good for "blue heaven" :headbang I agree strides need to be made in that area as well as others for UNC, and Kansas is a very deserving #1 right now as the best in the land, but there are about 6-7 teams that can go with Kansas night in night out and win their share of games.

The first strength of schedule rankings (last week) had UNC # 12 in the nation, and Kansas #78. It is what it is. This takes nothing away from Kansas though, they are very deserving of the top spot in the land to this point in my opinion. Edited by JuiceCruz16

I'll take Memphis and UCLA up against any other teams. For my money, those are the two best teams in the country.

I haven't seen UCLA yet but I have said before that I take Memphis vs. anyone right now.

The 05 Carolina team was significantly better on the defensive end than this years version. That years version was top 10 in defensive efficiency. This team isn't top 40.
