DBAHO
Just terrible. This just happens WAY too often over there. Hopefully everyone from Soxtalk who goes there is ok.
chimpy2121
I've heard back from 3 of my friends so far and they're all alright. They said they're just really freaked out. I can't imagine if something like that would happen here. Prayers go out to everyone hurt or affected.

bmags
NIU is in my prayers. My brothers' alma mater. Some of my friends go there. I can't imagine.
RockRaines
Seriously, what are you accomplishing in your pathetic life by taking innocent people with you. If you feel you arent worth a damn, take your own life and get it over with, do not involve people that actually want to make a difference in this world. CanOfCorn
According to MSNBC.com, the shooter killed himself. Good...I guess.

Steve9347
I'm so f***ing depressed right now man... 4 people dead. This just hits too close to home, I've been in Cole Hall countless times. I can't even fathom what those families/friends are going through.

greasywheels121
Wow. I hope everyone on here from NIU is okay. Thoughts and prayers go out to everyone at the school; I can't imagine dealing with that.

There's a good chance I might know him, bc I minored in sociology and graduated in December 2005. That'd be really crazy. Whitewashed in '05
Prayers go out to the families. This is really sad. I can't believe it. Why do people think this is the best way for them to leave this world? People have to worry about being safe in school now?? WTF
whitesoxfan101
Yeah I'm fine, but fathom, if you saw the scene (or even the outskirts of it like I did), you'd know why he said casualties. It was a f***ing war zone. What a sad day, this stuff doesn't even surprise me anymore, but it's just a punch in the balls when it's your school. You can't prevent this stuff of course, but as long as the NRA exists, it will continue to happen relatively often (sorry to go political there). The cell phones here are still shot, I can't find everybody.....I am afraid to see the victim lists when they come out.
chimpy2121
Let me preface by saying this is a lot of friend of a friend, but... I used to work with a lady who's daughter goes to NIU. She was in this class with 2 other friends. They usually all go together, but when some run late they don't sit together; the late ones just sit in back. Well, my friends daughter was late for this class along with one of her other friends. Unfortunately, their other friend was on time and sat in the front of class. She was one of the ones shot (who lated died). My friends daughter saw her friend get shot, and if she was on time, she could have been one of the people. It's so scary. I have a brother that lives in DeKalb, and his cell phone was cutting out all day. My father has actually been taught on how to give press briefings for disaster situations much like today, and they're teaching now that casualties should only be used for fatalities due to the terms perception in a war time.
