knightni
They don't want to set a precedent of allowing all teams to "draft" ahead of time.
Balta1701
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 06:15 PM) I was having that discussion yesterday, which I do understand. I think while most would still watch, the NFL draft has become a huge event for marketing the league. It's a lot less appealing when the 1st 6-7 picks are signed with teams ahead of time. The other issue though is whether or not the league is helped or hurt by the constant holdouts year after year in training camp. And of course, the lack of a rookie salary structure plays in to that also.

It would turn into an extra seven days of booing Jets fans, then.

DBAHO
Emmitt's lost it quite a bit. Atlanta has no running game? Umm they just signed Michael Turner. DeSean Jackson at #4? Bwahaha. Tim Tebow at #5? I've read enough. EDIT: Matt Ryan twice in the top 8? Bingo.

Brian
Bears could go so many different directions. If Mendenhall is there when the Bears choose,it could be to hard to resist, than just load up on OL later since it is filled with good OL's. No matter what the Bears do, some people will be pissed, others will be content.

Brian
Wonder what Mario Manningham did to go from a projected late first rounder to late 3rd rounder.

Bad timed speed, lied when interviewed, admitted to testing positive for marijuana in the past, and he got a 6 on the Wonderlic.

fathom
If Jake Long let his hair grow long, he would be Triple H's twin.
jackie hayes
Rotoworld saying the Rams are going to take Chris Long. Why put that out there? If the Falcons want Dorsey as badly as they seem to (and they don't seem to have much use for Long), why not put it out there that you're taking Dorsey? At least then there's the chance the Falcons come knocking, and you still get your guy at 3.

Soxbadger
well Falcons supposedly want Ryan now, who knows. I hope the draft breaks well for the Bears and they are sitting at their pick with the choice of a few linemen, so that they can pick the guy they want, not the guy thats just left over. In the second i hope they get some sort of game changer, whether it be rb, wr. Id rather wait out qb because now guys like Woodson are slipping and the reality is none of these qb's are locks so why force it. A guy that I like that i havent seen much connection to the bears is James Hardy from Indiana, tall WR who can make plays. Would give the Bears another dimension to go with most of the speed wr's they have.
