For how bad people think the Sox are going to do, those are pretty good odds. Anyone remember what our odds were before 2005?

Those people apparently didn't pay attention to what the Sox have done in the off-season. I don't think that they'll win the Central, but I'd say that they're probably 10th in the league in terms of overall talent and have a legitimate shot at the WC.

I bought a ticket in Feb of 2005, and got 20-to-1. Laid down $20, on a lark, while in Vegas at a conference. Got $420. And it was the only time I have ever bet on a season result before or since.

Not to turn this into anti-cub but Vegas hedges their numbers based on the fact that people will play them regardless of the true expected result. Same thing with a lot of west coast football especially USC as money is put on them regardless of the spread. In reality the Sox and cubs probably a lot closer than this.

I like the Diamondbacks with these odds. I'm going to Vegas for the 1st round of the tournament, I'll grab a sheet from Ceasar's with these odds and the fun prop bets

I'm soooooo jealous! What a GREAT time to be in Vegas!

yeah, I know a group who always goes and this is the first year I can actually get out there. I can not wait

it's a blast. Ceasar's and Mandalay Bay sportsbooks sound like a highschool pep rally at 8:30am with thousands of degenerate college hoop junkies screaming in unison, "Let's GO ORANGE". Really, its heaven.

I'm glad someone realized how it works. It's based strictly off how people are betting, not on any kind of projections or anything like that. Vegas sets the odds based on where the money is being bet to ensure they make money regardless of what actually happens.

With basically 2 rookies in the rotation, the Sox have no chance at a World Series in 2008. That doesn't mean they can't make some trades mid-season if we're in the hunt that would improve our chances, but as the team stands now there's no way.

In the last week of December '04, I placed a bet on the '05 White Sox at Ceasars Palace at 30 to 1. I only bet 50 bucks, but I felt like a genius in Oct.

Did the cashier laugh at you when you told them who you wanted to bet on? I would have.
