hi8is
The Orioles rejected the White Sox's recent offer of first baseman/DH Paul Konerko for potential free-agent righthander Sidney Ponson, and the talks between the teams are currently dormant. Konerko, 27, isn't a great fit for the Orioles, who already have too many first-base/DH types. He is also earning $6.25 million this season, $8 million in 2004 and $8.75 million in 2005 -- and would receive an extra $500,000 in each of the final two years if he is traded. That's a steep price for a player who has struggled all season, and the Orioles would almost want the White Sox to attach a prospect to any deal. Scouts from both the Cardinals and Astros attended Ponson's most recent start in Baltimore. Both teams face budgetary restrictions and would likely want the Orioles to assume the remainder of Ponson's $4.25 million salary in exchange for higher-caliber prospects. ... _ I read that rigth now.. The Critic
believe 1/4 of what you read...1/3 of what you hear and all of what you see with your own eyes.......... I dunno, HSC, I'm still having trouble believing that I saw Paulie hit a pinch-hit, 2-out, extra-inning, game-tying HOME RUN against the Twinks! I had to rub my eyes a couple times to make sure that actually happened!!

Queen Prawn
That guy is a putz. I get sick to my stomach whenever I read his stuff. His obession with the Scrubbies doesn't help either.

Or the Twins The Twins being #1 in his preseason powerrankings because they "had the most upside of any of the LCS teams" is complete bulls***. He just had to think of a good excuse as to why he thought the Twins were the best team going into the year. I think I know who his two favorite teams are....the Flubbies and the Twinkies. I wonder what he thinks of that ranking now. Also....he said that the Cubs will only be better in the second half. I for some reason have a hard time believing that. I wonder why
kj1832
I would not trade Konerko. He will come back if given the chance. Remember there were alot of people ready to get rid of Frank.

We have Frank and Dauber as 1B/DH types right now....and those two combined don't make as much as Paulie is. Do you understand why we now want to get rid of Paul Konerko? Konerko is going to make $8 mill a year from here on out. If we can take that $8 mill off of our roster, it will be more money spent on keeping players, such as Bartolo Colon and Esteban Loaiza, here instead of having them leave via free agency. DaSox35
i remember when people wanted to get rid of frank first, those people were morons everytime we bench frank(even when frank is slumping badly) our #3 hitter grounds into double plays more often then he moves runners over frank is our best hitter(even when he is slumping horribly) because he can move runners over he's smart enough to know how to move runners over and keep his outs productive second, you cant compare thomas to konerko because thomas was in the biggest slump of his life and he never batted .190 in 150-170ab's the reason our team sucks is because we have invested the bulk of our salary in a LF, 1B and DH a smart gm would build a team around a SS, C, CF, and SP you can always sign someone like daubach for the league minimum to play LF for you and he would get 25 hr's if he played the whole year thats the same amount lee or konerko would get and we are paying them big money if we could get rid of konerko i would do it in a heartbeat even if he ended up hitting .300 with 27 hr's again
