JDsDirtySox
IMO we can't have both Fields and Anderson both in the lineup. Both still Strike Out too much. One I am okay with, but not both.

DBAHO
QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Mar 13, 2008 -> 09:06 AM) BA just nailed a guy at home trying to score frome 3rd on a fly ball. He's certainly had quite a game then today. Whatever happens, at least BA has come out and performed so far in ST. Whatever the Sox decide to do with him, at least if they decide to move him, they should get some decent value now. But right now, with the question marks on Owens and Quentin, BA may have played himself into a bench job.

Balta1701
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Mar 12, 2008 -> 03:15 PM) If they're both hurt, he may be playing himself into the CF job. Even if they're approaching healthy...if he keeps this up, there's no good reason, even from a guy who likes both Quentin and Owens, to put either of them in the big leagues over BA (put Owens as the 4th OF or Hell call it a platoon at worst). Having Anderson turn in to a solid OF dramatically improves this team for this year and in future years. It turns any OF for the next 5 years into a solid defensive OF no matter what. It gives us a lot more flexibility in that we go back to holding 4 young OF's under contract for the next 4+ years, along with JD. It gives us the ability to move either JD or PK directly to DH next year, or even this year, if Thome's option isn't picked up or if he struggles with injuries. And if somehow we decide that we're in a position to move a veteran player, it allows us the flexibility to move either JD or PK for a good haul and still be able to fill their shoes. I do believe you are correct sir ... Brian is showing he deserves a shot at starting in CF, but it's nice to have Owens as a lefty and Anderson as a righty for platoon purposes too. While we have no idea how this will translate, if this is at least part of an indication of some improvement on Brian's part for this year, that makes us that much better. IF he keeps this up...there's only 1 way to see how this will translate. Play him as if he's the starting CF in April (and for God's sake don't screw around and put someone else in there on day 2 of the season just because). DBAHO
BA emerging this season, could be the best thing to happen to this franchise for the past couple of seasons, and for the future. It would certainly give KW a lot more options (in regards to Dye, Thome, Konerko and Swisher). I suppose, and I used this argument so many times back in 2006, you just have to be patient with young hitters at the major league level, back when Anderson was terrible (albeit he was much better in post ASB 06 IIRC). Maybe this season is where Brian starts to put it together if he gets the chance.
RockRaines
I think BA just played himself into CF. He's clearly playing at a different level than Ive seen him before in ST.
