southsideirish71
QUOTE(Tannerfan @ Mar 24, 2008 -> 04:48 PM) You would think that the great Greg Walker could teach these guys to hit leftys at least a little bit. Or is the great Greg part of the problem? My opinion on the subject is pretty well known on this. Having a guy like Fields who hits lefties well, sitting in AAA doesnt help. But we keep introducing new personnel and we keep on seeing the same results. Lets see what happens this year.
Greg The Bull Luzinski
I thought the whole reason the off season was a victory was because we got 2 guys that can hit lefties in Swisher and O.C. I would think some of the other guys would make adjustments too. /green as hell
DBAHO
Swisher's OBP against lefties was over .400 last season right?

knightni
QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Mar 24, 2008 -> 03:37 PM) while we are complementing Avs, Knight, sweet one. Clone High was awesome. The "Black and Tan" part with the "say what" is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. It's been an ongoing joke with my friends and I http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y115/knig.../Clone_High.jpg Here's a wallpaper made from a deviant art poster. Vance Law
QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Mar 24, 2008 -> 04:15 PM) Starting pitching is going to be sooooooooo bad this year. At least we don't have Eric Bedard and his 9.50 ERA.

Vance Law
Sox hit lefties better than righties last year. The maximum # of lefties we'll ever have starting against a lefty is 3, probably 2 on average. How do Konerko, Dye, Swisher, Cabrera, Fields/Crede, Anderson/Quentin, Uribe do against lefties? Generally great to not-bad.

Generally great to not-bad. Fields(.321 against lefties) and either Quentin and or Anderson will be in AAA this year. Ozzie wants to start Owens against lefties as well. He will be down in the order, but in the lineup. Edited March 24, 2008 by southsideirish71
Vance Law
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Mar 24, 2008 -> 05:26 PM) Ozzie wants to start Owens against lefties as well. He will be down in the order, but in the lineup. Hopefully he hits himself out of a job quick, then. We've got more of an Ozzie problem than a don't-have-guys-who-can-hit-lefties problem. Balta1701
Jose Contreras' split-finger fastball that helped the White Sox win the 2005 World Series returned Monday in impressive style. Contreras used his split to strike out longtime Sox killer Raul Ibanez twice after Ibanez hit an RBI double in the first. Contreras settled down after Ibanez's double and retired 13 of the next 15 batters. Contreras struck out Brad Wilkerson three times, including a whiff on a split to end the first. Contreras finished with six strikeouts in 5 2/3 ininngs. Hardball
