Your favorite baseball movie ever?

Considering how long this board has been around you guys have probably had this discussion before, but I haven't been here long enough to know.

What's the best one ever? I'd say Bull Durham, A League Of Their Own is pretty underrated. Major League gets knocked down because it has the Indians in it and the Sox are the bad guys. :puke:

Field of Dreams

I just watched Angels in the Outfield a few months ago. I hadn't seen it in a decade easily, but it was fun watching because I caught a lot of things that I understand now as an adult, so that was cool.

Yep evil White Sox in that movie too.

For Love of the Game anyone?

No.

Doesn't even compare to movies like Bull Durham, A League of their Own, Field of Dreams, or Eight Men Out (I'm sure I've forgotten some other greats too).

Yep, once a season this topic comes up.

My four favorites (in no order) are:

Bull Durham

League of Their Own

Eight Men Out

Bad News Bears (Mathau version)

Natural is great, and Field of Dreams and the Sandlot and The Rookie are all worth seeing again. I think Fever Pitch was a fun movie too.

Fear Strikes Out.

Eh ... not so much. Bull Durham, Major League and yes I like Love of the Game. I guess my favorite is Field of Dreams, and I think it's the soliloquey (I know that not spelled right, but deal with it) by James Earl Jones near the end of the movie. I love that. For some reason, I'm not all that crazy about the The Natural. It's okay, but it doesn't grab me like the others I've mentioned. Actually, considering how old it is, The Monty Stratton Story wasn't bad.

Angels in the Outfield, Bad News Bears and the movie about the 12 year Cub fan that played for the team as a pitcher... forgot the title ... I'll pass on those.

Yasny: Rookie of the Year

A League of Their Own is a great one, that was on WGN the other day. I also didn't mind The Babe, especially if nothing else is on. Fever Pitch was better than I thought it was going to be.

I honestly haven't seen all of Eight Men Out, I really need to.

Anyone like Mr. 3000? haha.

I do actually. heh. I love Bernie Mac.

They just had my favorite part of Bull Durham.

"You told him I was gonna throw the deuce huh?"

"Yup... Boy that ball got out of here in a hurry didn't it? Anything that flies that far's gotta have a damn steardess on it."

lol yeah I love that part too. That's my favorite and was glad to see it just now. Since I'm from Iowa, I have to watch The Final Season sometime, it's about a school that had won 19 of 23 State Championships and they are going to have to consolidate so the rookie head coach has one shot at bringing championship #20 to the town of Norway, Iowa.

As already mentioned, The Natural, Field of Dreams and Pride of the Yankees are all classics. Another couple of my favorites that haven't been mentioned are Bang the Drum Slowly, It Happens Every Spring and The Bingo Long Traveling All-Stars And Motor Kings.

Field of Dreams and Eight Men Out

In fact I'm thinking about picking up this new 20th anniversary edition of Eight Men Out even though I already have the old version on dvd because the new one looks like it has a few interesting extras.

http://www.dvdactive.com/news/releases/eight-men-out.html

MGM Home Entertainment has announced a 20th Anniversary edition of Eight Men Out which stars John Cusack, Charlie Sheen, and Christopher Lloyd. This John Sayles directed sporting drama will be available to own from the 18th March, and should retail at around $14.98. Extras will include an audio Commentary from director John Sayles, a 2 Part Retrospective featurette, a Story Behind The Movie featurette that takes an in-depth look at the Black Sox Scandal, and a DB, The Bat & The 2005 World Series featurette thats looks at the 2005 White Sox World Series Championship.
