you'd be surprised... my wife wrote a letter to mlb for a classroom project and got a beautiful response from bob dupay, including a phone call to her to ask some follow up questions about the project and her students.

Yea, but that was for the children, were just a bunch of whiny White Sox fans

I hope you guys know that this is not going to do anything.

Well if it is all based on if it will do any good or not, I will just go ahead and delete your account, because nothing said on a message board is going to do anything...

bottom line, the guy gets 50 emails in his box tomorrow morning about bad umpiring at a game, it makes him think about it... at least for a second.

There is no way that he does that. Do you have any idea of the kind of training that these individuals go through? It's pretty rigorous. I doubt with how many Umpires the league has that any kind of action would be taken. Sure, some things could be under review after games with so called "controversy," but I doubt that anything will come from people acting in the heat of battle instead of waiting when they've cooled a bit.

I'm sorry, but isn't that a bit of an extreme overreaction?

The last time I was this upset was when Haeger got ejected for hitting a Yankee batter with a knuckleball. Other than that I don't really get upset about umps, bad calls are a part of the game. But... all at once? They were game-changing calls.

The fact that the so called ideal number two hitter had a simply awful at-bat and that Thome couldn't elevate the ball along with the fact that the Sox got themselves a new reliever that can't throw stirkes is what killed them.

The 9th inning Joe Crede made me phyiscally ill.

They did show some heart and Masset looked good. Buerhle needed to pitch ove the Cabrerra f'up.

Those calls were not that bad, not good but not as bad as the Joe Borowski 9th inning show.

Then you got my point that there was really no point for your post either. Good.

The "either" in your post makes me hope that you are saying that there was no point for both of our posts. If this is so, let me know.

How depressing was that sequence? After battling back to get into this game, and to have three straight calls hose you... Damn.

i agree 100% that was just brutle. never seen anything like it. they gave this game to the indians

actually, i think the home plate call he WAS in the right position. He culd have seen if they touch his jersey from that angle in my opinion. he just blew it because Crede was "supposed" to be out.

NO WAY, he has to come out a tad so he can see up that line and the front corner of that plate...he took 1 step to the side and seemed at least 7 feet away from the play...The ump at first needs to come down more to get a good angle and if he cant see it, the home plate ump needs to be looking at his feet to see if he is off the bag...Jesus they teach us that for HS ball and these PROFESSIONAL umps blew these calls

You guys should all be umpires. 101 you crack me up the most.

First call could have gone either way, and no replay was 100% clear. Tough call on a bang bang play, that goes either way and is a ridiculously tough call. Konerko holds that base, and everyone here is commending the ump for making the call. Also keep in mind the angle he has, which is, yes, the angle he's going to have. He's not making that call from where Baines is standing, or 6 inches from the base.

Second call is blown, no doubt. He missed one. He should have swung to 3rd base line extended as much as he could to get an angle, perhaps that would have helped.

Third call you are all just listening to Hawk b****. You can't flail your arms at the defensive player, that was an easy interference call. You can't do whatever you want just because you can reach the base. That is not the rule, nor the interpretation of such rule. Cabrera reached out his arm in an attempt to grab him and break it up. Stupid play. And, it doesn't matter what was going on at first or how close that play may have been.

I'm sure the Sox will not benefit from one blown call this year.

To the first part. Umps get suspended. Especially in scenarios in which a game is called this poorly. They're trained rigorously, but they're not above the millions of dollars going into both teams. I'm quite certain it's not just the fans that will complain this time.

To the second part. He was making a point. Not threatening to delete your account.

More bad Umpiring...Milton Bradley gets hit in the foot and the home plate ump didnt see it...LOL then during an argument the ump start going directly to the Texas dugoutpointing and screaming at Ben Broussard...Damn I thought the umps were supposed to let you say your piece and not get inn the players face

Agree they gave it away. But it was taken at the same time. Regardless, if one of those double plays is turned in the second inning, the Sox walk away with a laugher.

It looks like this is not just some White Sox bias. From Passan's blog:

5:56 p.m. ET: I’m mad. For the White Sox. What a travesty. I hope an umpire supervisor reams out this crew for this game.

5:55 p.m. ET: At least he should have. Orlando Cabrera made a great hard slide into second base to break up a double play that would have scored the go-ahead run for Chicago, and Bruce Dreckman called interference. What an embarrasing inning for umpires.

5:54 p.m. ET: Ozzie’s about to get tossed.

5:52 p.m. ET: Oh, boy. Ozzie is mad, and rightfully so. Terrible throw home by Jhonny Peralta on a bases-loaded grounder, phantom tag by Kelly Shoppach on Crede and home-plate umpire Gerry Davis called him out.
