how about a sig bet? or better yet, an avy bet?

no, just a friendly wager. The odds are completely against me because Contreras is older, has deteriorating stuff, and is coming off of a year where he had a 5.57 ERA, whereas Garland is younger, has perfectly acceptable stuff, is coming off a pretty damn good year, and is in his contract year.

Or I'll do a sig bet, but your sig will be considerably bigger than mine. As in mine will be like the size of your average avatar, and yours will be the size of an average signature.

I can say that the 2008 White Sox thus far have not missed Jon Garland. It'll be really nice when O-Cab starts executing (he was lucky that sac bunt got down last night). Whereas I'm unsure Garland will get his ERA down, I'm certain that Cabrera will finish great.

There has to be more to that knot thing than they are letting out. He is pitching horrible.

Besides the first game of the season he has not lasted past 6.1IP. His ERA is 5.94 with a WHIP of 1.73. His K:BB ratio is 3:4, and he's allowed 6 HRs. He is extremely lucky to be 3-3.

Garland had a 6.25 ERA, 1.53 WHIP, and a .937 OPS against him through April and May in 2006. I'm glad the Sox got atleast a bit of value out of Garland, but let's not bury him yet.

That is true, but that is the type of pitcher the Sox could not afford to have in the rotation. More than likely he will come around, but it is amazing how bad ex-Sox pitchers struggle once they leave the team.

I agree, and I think Garland is one of the few pitchers in the league who actually benefits from pitching in a smaller park. Anaheim's so spacious that some balls that are normally caught fall in now. I could easily see Garland putting up a 4.50-4.75 ERA this season and not be surprised in the least. That has its value, but it's not worthy of a monster deal down the road.

Look at the list of starting pitchers KW has traded away: Sirotka, Garcia, McCarthy, Loaiza, Wells, Fogg. If Garland rebounds to form, he'll be the first one to come back and bite Kenny. If I'm a GM, I'd think twice about taking a starting pitcher from KW.

Coop'll hex 'em!

I think the only pitcher that is even nipping at Kenny is Jon Rauch, but that is so far removed now, it probably doesn't even register.

And we got our DH for a World Champ for him, so there really shouldn't be any worries regardless.
