southsideirish71
Well we have fell into the basement again in hitting in AL. 14th in the AL in hitting. How the f*** is this team hitting this bad for average. The saving grace has been the walks.
greg775
The hitting was painful to watch tonight.

TitoMB345
This team has the exact same sluggish offense of 2007, plus about 25% more walks. Come ON someone wake the hell up!
DBAHO
Except that this team is scoring at a rate of 5.42 runs per game. Pitching was the reason we lost this game. Vazquez was effectively wild early, but eventually the Yanks got to him. Not one of his better outings, that's for sure.

We lead the league in home runs, that plus our walks is why the offense has scored runs. The team is still not hitting. Eventually people will just challenge our hitters because they will rather have them hit solo home runs instead of walking people. The tigers have started hitting and now are only 3 behind us. So much for their 0 and whatever start. Our crappy 500 ball over the last week mitigated that. But we do have guys in our lineup now in Swisher who actually take a walk, because they are taking more pitches in the count. Eventually this team will hit for a better average. Some guys have already. I'm not majorly concerned. It's the pitching when the weather heats up, that concerns me more.

I don't like the fact we're really not playing that well at home.

That and the Rangers are pretty much a AA team right now. Gawd, they are AWFUL, save Michael Young - and even he isn't doing all that well. WCSox
QUOTE (DBAH0 @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 10:19 PM) Pitching was the reason we lost this game. Yeah, Mussina's pitching. The guy who tops out at 87 mph and got hammered by the Red Sox last week. No doubt that Javy fell apart in the 6th inning, but his lineup didn't do crap for him until it was too late. You can't wait until the 7th and 8th innings to score runs, especially against a team that doesn't have any long relief.
fathom
The most overrated part of the Sox this year is their defense. IMO, it's been horrible. Cabrera must have some naked pictures of the official scorer's in order to be charged with only one error this season. He could have 5 or 6 already. Dye's an absolute disgrace in RF. There's no question that he should be a DH.
fathom
Dear White Sox pitchers: please show a spine and get the 3rd out of an inning.
fathom
Our 2nd base situation is killing this offense. I can only dream we'd consider putting Fields there.
fathom
Can we trade Ozzie to the NL so his hard on for bunting would be more suitable?

We have a guy who is not exaclty a contact guy. So naturally in the American League, we try a squeeze. What a moronic call. The infield and outfield are drawn in. Just see what happens. The man is at third already.

So naturally in the American League, we try a squeeze. What a moronic call. The infield and outfield are drawn in. Just see what happens. The man is at third already. And if you miss the bunt, the threat is over. At least if you swing away, you have 2 chances. As I said in the game thread, my biggest issue with the call was the obvious pitch pattern they were using on Anderson.
fathom
QUOTE (rudylaw @ Apr 28, 2008 -> 11:35 PM) That was the dumbest thing Ozzie has ever done. That was baseball retarded. Nothing will ever replace leaving Contreras in to allow 10 runs vs Boston last year when you're trying to showcase him.

WhiteSoxfan1986
I had no problem with the squeeze. You had Anderson up followed by Ramirez. Ozzie's biggest mistake of the game was the hit and run with OC.
