santo=dorf
Jose Contreras is a terrific pitcher. By terrific, I mean a combination of terrible and horrific. That's good. Think KW is pissed because Ozzie's won't play one of his former first round picks?

Balta1701
QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 02:30 PM) That's good. Think KW is pissed because Ozzie's won't play one of his former first round picks? Quentin hit a 2 run homer today, Dye is suddenly on fire (man and I was worried about him at the end of ST) and Swisher took a couple walks even though he's not hitting. I doubt Kenny's that pissed. If he wants Anderson to play he needs to clear him a position to play at.
knightni
Give Thome or Kong the day off tomorrow or Sunday. Let Swish be 1b or Dye DH, then Anderson can play with Quentin and Swish/Dye in the OF for one game.
pierard
According to this http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/stats/roster...=average_weight the Sox are tied with Yankees as the fattest team in the MLB with an average weight of 221. I'm guessing that's why MacDougal (175 lbs) is on the roster, so the Sox don't own the title outright. Not a lot for me to really be negative about... The sox are the 4th tallest while the yankees are 1st, so they win the simplistic, negative fat title. I know Swisher made the play and the Sox won the game, but I was wondering why Anderson wasn't in CF as a defensive replacement in the 9th inning today. I am willing to accept Quentin as the 3rd OF but Owens will get the nod over both. Send Ramirez down when Owens comes back, and make him the be in the pinch runner role which apparently Anderson currently has. Running is the best and only thing Owens can do. Hall looked terrible today too.

Hall looked terrible today too. I agree with you. No reason to not have your best defensive CFer out there. Swisher played darn good out there defensively in center, but still, he isn't Brian Anderson in CF (not many are defensively). In fact santo, I agree with everything you said. Ramirez will be well suited to get everday ab's and almost a full season in the minors. He looks to have good tools but he's raw and I think the Sox are better suited using Quentin as the starting outfielder, Owens in a pinch runner type of role and Anderson as a bench guy who comes in for defensive purposes and gets ocassional starts against lefties (realistically there is no way I want Anderson playing over Quentin who is head and shoulders a better baseball player; Anderson has tools but Quentin actually has a legitimate swing). I could also live with Anderson in AAA with Ramirez and Jeff Davannon up at the major league level (solely because I would have no problem with Anderson/Ramirez both getting lots and lots of ab's as opposed to rotting on the bench). He is making defensive plays that maybe 2-3 guys make in all of baseball 2.) I still like his "s*** play" . 9/10 times it does not get called interference. Carlos Lee can take a page out of Cabrera's book. 3.) Uribe/Cabrera-Last night-5 double plays

heirdog
Through 6 games (TIFWIW), I prefer a motivated Uribe's defense at SS over Cabrera due to arm strength. We didn't know if we would get a motivated Uribe so I don't mind the Cabrera trade. I like the overall presence of Cabrera on the team...I'm just not as impressed with his D as I thought I would be (again, only 6 games).
