Hatchetman
was he thought of as any kind of a prospect? his numbers before last year were not all that impressive. maybe some of our minor leaguers with mediocre stats will turn into cy young candidates. Hatchetman
thanks. guy should have been the #4 prospect in all of baseball.
witesoxfan
QUOTE(Hatchetman @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 06:40 AM) thanks. guy should have been the #4 prospect in all of baseball. Guys with sinkers always get overlooked because it's hard to project them to the majors. Some can be super studs, like Webb, while others can be just good or even bad at times, like Jon Garland. There are examples of bad ones, but I can't think of any because they suck.
RockRaines
QUOTE(Hatchetman @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 06:40 AM) thanks. guy should have been the #4 prospect in all of baseball. He was never ranked highly overall.
Kalapse
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 06:33 PM) He was never ranked highly overall. In 2004 he was rated #76 between Bubba Nelson (#75 - Braves) and Andrew Sisco (#76 - Cubs). That's the only appearance he made on the BA top 100 list. max power
I'm still a skeptic that he is a #2 MLB pitcher. Yes he was good last year.

BearSox
his only real plus pitch is his sinker. Everything else is meh... but if he can keep that sinker down and be able to attack hitters, he should continue to have success.
knightni
Kind of a Hispanic Jon Garland.

witesoxfan
QUOTE(BearSox @ Apr 5, 2008 -> 02:23 AM) except maybe without the Judy Garland break downs. Which would be Kevin Brown. He was kinda good
BearSox
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Apr 5, 2008 -> 06:01 AM) Which would be Kevin Brown. He was kinda good that's quite the comparison, but I don't see Carmona having the type of career as Brown did. Most pitchers don't.
