Where was McCain born?

Panama, but on an Army base. So he was technically born on US soil... making him eligible to be president.

WikiPedia:

John McCain was born in 1936 at Coco Solo Naval Air Station in the Panama Canal Zone, Panama, to naval officer John S. McCain, Jr. (1911–1981) and Roberta (Wright) McCain (b. 1912). At that time, the Panama Canal was under U.S. control.

Actually Athomeboy its not so clear cut:

In 2008, when Arizona Senator John McCain ran for president on the Republican ticket, some theorized that because McCain was born in the Canal Zone, he was not actually qualified to be president. However, it should be noted that section 1403 was written to apply to a small group of people to whom section 1401 did not apply. McCain is a natural-born citizen under 8 USC 1401©: "a person born outside of the United States and its outlying possessions of parents both of whom are citizens of the United States and one of whom has had a residence in the United States or one of its outlying possessions, prior to the birth of such person." Not eveyone agrees that this section includes McCain - but absent a court ruling either way, we must presume citizenship.

I didn't know that. Interesting.

there was a very small underground rumbling that McCain might not be eligible because he was born in panama. It's an interpretation of the constitution thing. But in the end, it was much to do about nothing and the senate passed a resolution declaring McCain officially eligible in case the issue arose.

Notably, that resolution was introduced IIRC by the Junior Senator from Illinois.

WikiPedia:

It doesn't matter that he was born on U.S. soil or not, because both his parents were citizens. He would thus be elgible for the presidency regardless of where he was born.

ps. Now Obama, he of the fake birth certificate and all, is a totally different story. ;)

This is correct. The rest is moot.
