kevo880
Pretty sure Poreda's going for Winston-Salem. Not sure who he's facing
JPN366
Bad weather might postpone the Barons/Smokies. It looks like it will rain all night. Edited April 4, 2008 by JPN366
scenario
The storms blew by in Birmingham and it looks like they're going to start soon (around 8pm). There was a power outage in the 3rd inning of the Winston-Salem game and it ended up getting suspended. LOL. I love minor league games. Good thing though. Poreda was in trouble. W-S was losing 3-0 and Poreda was facing a bases loaded situation when the power went out. Not a great game for Aaron who seemed like he was struggling. I wonder how they'll work it out to complete the game or whether they'll scratch it. Edited April 5, 2008 by scenario
BearSox
Kanny got postponed, and according to milb.com, Birmingham got postponed as well... So, only Charlotte playing now, and they are tied 3-3 in the top of the 6th.
scenario
Yep. Just saw that Birmingham got postponed too. Hmmm... I was listening on Internet radio about 1/2 hour ago and they thought they'd get it in. Edited April 5, 2008 by scenario

JPN366
QUOTE(scenario @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 08:26 PM) Yep. Just saw that Birmingham got postponed too. Hmmm... I was listening on Internet radio about 1/2 hour ago and they thought they'd get it in. I sat in the drizzle waiting for it to start. They got within 10 minutes of starting and called it. Double header tomorrow.
JPN366
Winston-Salem will play a double header tomorrow too.
scenario
QUOTE(JPN366 @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 09:17 PM) Winston-Salem will play a double header tomorrow too. How do they handle a 'suspended by power outage' game like today? Continue where they left off, in the 3rd inning with us down 3-0 and Kinston with the bases loaded, or start over? Pretty hard to pick up where they left off I would think because they'd have to bring in different pitchers. It would help us out a great deal, obviously, if they start over. scenario
Charlotte winning 8-3 in the 9th despite 15 strikeouts by Columbus pitching. 3 by Bourgeois, 3 by Fields, and 3 by Eldred, make up the bulk of them.
Balta1701
Well, maybe josh did have a few things still to work on at the minor league level.

BearSox
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 5, 2008 -> 12:53 AM) God, I hope we didnt ruin Josh by sending him down. I wouldn't be surprised if we did. This was a guy who wasn't the strongest mentally (he almost called it quits after his first taste of the big leagues). And then after KW says Fields would start and Crede would be traded earlier in the offseason, Kw sends Fields down and has Crede start. Also, Fields had a very good rookie season to build off of, and out preformed Crede in ST, yet he gets sent down.
DBAHO
If Fields can't hit minor league pitching ATM BearSox does he deserve to be in the majors? And he didn't almost call it quits, that was blown way out of proportion. Crede has done pretty well for us thus far.

For all we know, we f***ed him up mentally by sending him down. Or, he is pissed and trying to crush everything. But I don't know since I can't see the game... But, I think he should have been the starting 3B from day one. Also, I wouldn't say Crede has done well so far either.

DBAHO
Anyone else see that Jeff DaVanon is playing for Charlotte also; Jeff DaVanon went 2-for-5 in his debut for Triple-A Charlotte on Friday. DaVanon was a nice pickup for the White Sox, though he's probably not going to get a look unless the White Sox decide they don't have the at-bats available to make it worth carrying both Alexei Ramirez and Carlos Quentin. Someone needs to tell Ozzie Guillen that he's just like Darin Erstad, only if Erstad could still hit a little.

Also, Fields had a very good rookie season to build off of, and out preformed Crede in ST, yet he gets sent down. That's not what KW said. KW said that Crede and Fields will not be on the same team. We all assumed that meant Crede would be traded and it looks like he tried. Fields has always been a strikeout waiting to happen. Maybe he is depressed a bit which he should be and doesn't have the focus right now. That's understandable however he needs to pull himself out of it. He needs to be tough mentality for dealing with the tough times in the majors as well. Maybe this will get him some good experience with dealing with dissappointment because other than the strikeouts he hasn't had much difficulty in the minors.
