I like the sound of that, Pants. But doesn't that mean the same thing for the Twins? It's hard to imagine the Twins NOT doing well. Let's just hope that they do indeed struggle on the road like they're supposed to.

No doubt, but they are not at 20 over yet. I think they will get there and possibly make the WC. IT was more of an indicator that the Sox are a strong enough team to keep up a good pace from here on out, hopefully outlasting the surging Twins.

Game images for win #73 : Griffey with his 1st Chisox HR , #609 ties him with Sammy Sosa for 5th all-time. Swisher (20) with career HR #100 , 3 games in a row with a HR, teammates give him the cold shoulder in the dugout so he does the spinning , jumping back bump with an invisible teammate. Ramirez (14)and Pierzynski (12) both hit 3 run HR's. Ramirez has reached base in 15 straight games. 5 wins in a row , 8 out of 9, outscoring opponents 55-10 over last six home games. Gavin Floyd win #13 which leads the team. Bullpen : 3 innings, 0 runs, 1 hit, 0 walks, 4 K's. Swept the series with the Mariners. Final score White Sox 15 Mariners 3.

:o

Who would have said THAT at the beginning of the year (that GF would lead the Sox with wins on August 21st)?

What is their record since June 1? They have to be playing .700 ball, these guys just don't go away.

Since June 1

45-27 .625 Wpct

Since June 11

42-20 .677 Wpct (over a full year, that would equal a 109-110 win season!)

I was miffed watching the Twinkies beat the Angels in Anaheim in 12 innings. The Angels had 2 hits in the 1st inning then only managed 3 more hits in the next 11 innings.

99.9 percent of Sox fans thought the Sox would be 1.5 games out of first right now.

during the first half of that game i was certainly worried the wheels were falling off.

That will only be a prize when we're in that position and the season is over, but it is a lot better than 2nd.

When all of the experts predicted 4th place, and everyone here agreed with them, being in first place in the end of August is a prize. Its a helluva lot better than 99.9% of people thought we would do.

They are doing much better than I ever thought they would do! It is fun to sit back and enjoy the ride.

Is it time to bring back the pre-season prediction thread? I think we have already surpassed the victory total that some of the more pessimistic posters predicted.
