Where is Adam Russell? I mean if we're doing late year tryouts for RH relief lets get him an extended look. Scoreless outings against TB and BOS amidst some clunkers recently. Has a K-rate, if nothing else.

Maybe he's become the Brian Anderson of the pitching staff.

He's just not pitched well this season. Of course, most of the bullpen has sucked lately too, so we'll probably see Adam a time or two in the next few games.

Right now, they seem to be leaning towards MacD (which is a little scary, but understandable given the numbers) over Russell or Wassermann. Logan has all but disappeared.

Sox beat Royals ending their 7 game winning streak. Dwayne Wise hits 2 HR's , Alexei Ramirez hit his 3rd Grand Slam of the season making it only the 2nd time in baseball history a rookie has done that. Jim Thome hit the 540th of his career. The Twinkies lose 11-1 to Tampa Bay so the Sox now lead the division by 2.5 games with an 85-68 record. Magic # 7.

Mark Buehrle pitched 6 innings giving up 3 runs on 6 hits , K's 2 , 1 BB . He improved to 3-1 lifetime when pitching on short rest. Buehrle is now the only active pitcher to record 10 wins, 30 starts and 200 innings in eight consecutive seasons.

85-68 +2.5 games over MN

Kansas City, Detroit, and Cleveland are all officially eliminated.

KC and DET, easy to see...but the Cleveland elimination is very subtle. Basically, the Twins vs. Sox series eliminates the possibility that neither the Sox nor the Twins finish with 86 or more wins, eliminating Cleveland even if they won out.
