whitesoxfan101
Lilly gets the win, throwing 8 plus and allowing 2 runs. Also, he attained the rarely seen platinum sombrero, or "olympic rings", as he went 0 for 5 with 5 strikeouts at the plate. Also, for reasons only known to Lou, he brings in Kerry Wood in a 9-0 game, allowing him to waste 28 pitches in a blowout spot. Swingandalongonetoleft
Having not seen the Fri/Sat games to know if he pitched, he probably wanted to give him some work thinking he wouldn't struggle with the mighty SF Giants. Sox won, Twinks lost- albeit to the Tigers, but if the Giants came back those two would simply have to take the back seat in terms of excellence. SoxFan562004
Gammons saying Cubs may not have enough to get Sabathia. He said the Brewers AA team is stacked with prospects, some scouts were telling him it might have the best prospects on one team they've ever seen. Flipped on the Cubs game and Len and Bob said the Cards might be interested in Holiday. If the Brewers get Sabathia and the Cardinals get Holiday, that will be one hell of a race between those three teams

whitesoxfan101
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 1, 2008 -> 12:33 PM) Kerry hadn't pitched in 4 games, hell, he was so bored, he had to flick somebody off. What else was Lou supposed to do? He could have waited until tonight, knowing it'd probably be a close and tough game with Cain pitching. But oh well, not our concern, and the Cubs lose again. They are having a hard time with the injuries, well and they aren't playing good baseball at all either.

The Brewers and Cubs desperately tried to choke away the division. It was epic.

I don't mind fight songs and Lets go go go white sox is no winner, but Blow Cubs Blow is seriously the worst ever....and not just because it's a Cubs song. They should have stuck with that Green Day song, 'Time of your life'??

Then, it'll be a 2 team race for first with the Cubs in 3rd. Edited July 3, 2008 by whitesoxbrian
Nokona
Carlos Marmol continues his rapid spiral to mediocrity giving up 2 base hits after 2 K's and then Ray Ray 2K snuck one over the RF wall. Tied 5-5.

Which of course makes sense, since Go Go White Sox was written in 1959 and Go Cubs Go was written in 1984. The book is officially out on Carlos Marmol. Unless he hangs it obviously, take the slider at all times because as nasty as it is, it won't stay in the zone. Then, crush the fastball because it's his only other pitch. Either that, or Marmol's overuse has caught up to him, or perhaps it's a mix of both. Edited July 3, 2008 by whitesoxfan101
