It's one big giant conspiracy I tell you.

My God, it's the last day in May, tune down the angst. Lots of things can and probably will happen.

One thing that typing that out made me realize is just how many shortstops have gotten injured this season in the NL. Also, I just heard on Fox that the Dodgers and Furcal were getting close to a contract extension prior to his injury. I had not heard they were even negotiating.

Buster Olney said a name to watch for the Cubs as the season goes on is C.C. Sabathia.

Who in the world would the Cubs have that would interest the Indians at that level? Considering that if he walks he's a type A guy, I'm not sure that emptying the Cubs minor league system would be enough to pry him away if I was the tribe

Uh, Matt Murton? Durr...

Admittedly, it's a steep price to pay. But the system would hardly be empty with future superstars Felix Pie, Angel Guzman, Bobby Brownlie, Jeff Szmardjialphabet, Bobby Brownlie... And Eric Patterson! Don't you ever forget Eric Patterson!

Yeah...they don't have s***.

Thanks for nothing Rockies. Work will be a lot of fun tomorrow.

Work is nothing. My fiancee is a Cubs fan, thats all that she can talk about the whole time...

We met in October 2005 though, so she knows how that goes...

I guess it's just really peculiar timing then that his numbers went way down after the .2004 season.

When I consider players that I think were on PED's, I look at the type of injuries players have and their overall hitting and not merely just power. The types of injuries players have...especially Juan Gonzalez completely tearing his hamstring or calf or whatever it was in his first AB back with Cleveland a few years back...are the biggest factor, but another big factor I look at is plate discipline. Helton's has remained constant/improved. Two guys who haven't are Delgado and Hafner.

(I hate to consider Hafner. He's from North Dakota and I have two degrees of long lost separation from him as one of my former bosses played teeners baseball with him, but it's impossible not to consider him)

Not that I wish upon an injury, but unless a key player for the Cubs suffers a bad one, they'll be sittin' a-top the NL, heading into the WS. I know it's a long year, but they will continue to win at home, and with that offense, they'll play .500 baseball the rest of the year on the road.

Get hot, NYM and ARZ!!

They still only have one real good pitcher. Arizona has 3 when RJ is healthy, the Mets have Johan, and the Phils have Hamels.

I'm not worried about the Cubs doing a damn thing in the postseason.

Dempster is a good starting pitcher in the NL. The Sox are going to struggle when we face him with that low and away slider.

How was work today? Ha.

I had to bite my lip so many times with Cub fans talking around me all day. You really would think that it was Oct 1st the way they are talking. I'm not letting it bother me though. I just hang with the Brewer fans.

Yes, it was awfully annoying. I'm not joking when I say some people were putting in vacation requests today for the first round of the playoffs.

I've never been a fan of Dempster, but he's put up some pretty good numbers this year. I still think he's bound to fall apart, but until he does, he's good.

Even so, I think he'd be the 4th best starter on the Diamondbacks...if the DBacks make it in, and Melvin doesn't completely suck at life upon getting in there, they could do a lot of damage.

Arizona could really use a veteran hitter...but losing Byrnes will help them. How does a normal human being tear two hammys?

Is it me, or does Zambrano look like his mechanics are screwed up?

He's going crazy out there. I particularly liked him catching the ball bare handed because he was pissed. Of course, he then picked off someone from 2nd base for like the 5th time this season. Meanwhile, Cardinals completely choked, and lost to the Pirates.

Zambrano is a damn wackjob. Strugglin through 2 already. Luckily he got the pickoff, otherwise he couldn't throw a strike to save himself.

You say the Cubs won't succeed in October because they only have 1 real good pitcher, and then you say NYM has Santana and PHI has Hamels.

Can Zambrano be our DH? This pitcher for the Padres is brutal. They keep talking about how he throws 8 pitches...but I guess every pitch is a hanger.

Derrek Lee might be a nice guy, but he's the Tim Duncan of baseball. He thinks every call made against him is a bad call.

Zambrano's 2 for 2 with a triple. He honestly might be a better hitter than PK and Thome now. Of course, the big inning started for the Cubs because the good fielding A. Gonzalez whiffed on an Edmonds double down the line. Zambrano, Edmonds, Soto, Soriano....what an unlikeable ball club.

ive never even heard of the opposing pitcher for the padres tonight....just wow gerut? barrett? McAnulty? Even kal greene stinks...the level of competition is just unreal

He just got DFA'd by Seattle, so that should tell you how bad he is. I can't believe the Padres haven't called up Chase Headley yet.
