Palehosefan
Hopefully this first start goes much better than the other first start.
NorthSideSox72
QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Apr 10, 2008 -> 02:50 PM) Hopefully this first start goes much better than the other first start. Huh? Its only W-S's 2nd game of the season, how could Poreda have had a previous start? MILB says he's yet to pitch this year.
bigruss
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 10, 2008 -> 05:19 PM) Huh? Its only W-S's 2nd game of the season, how could Poreda have had a previous start? MILB says he's yet to pitch this year. I think you misread it, maybe he meant last year's first start for Poreda was bad.
Heads22
Poreda has already started once this year.
fathom
I believe Poreda had a start in which he was getting rocked that got postponed.
JDsDirtySox
Poreda gave up like 4 runs in 2 innings... but then the game was called due to Rain. Life is full of second 1st chances.
fathom
He's gone 3 innings, 2 runs, 1 earned tonight. He's also allowed 8 baserunners with 1 K so far.
scenario
QUOTE (JDsDirtySox @ Apr 10, 2008 -> 07:03 PM) Poreda gave up like 4 runs in 2 innings... but then the game was called due to Rain. Life is full of second 1st chances. He started a game against Kinston and had trouble getting the ball over the plate. In the 3rd inning, Kinston was up 3-0 and had the bases loaded with nobody out... and the power went out. They ended up suspending the game until the next day. So... yes, Poreda has had a start this year already... and wasn't impressive. Let's hope he's looks better tonight. witesoxfan
8 baserunners in 3 IP with 1 K? Yikes, he's not adjusting well.
fathom
I'll be happy if Poreda can be a stud set-up man. I like that he's starting so he can work on multiple pitches, but his future has to be in the bullpen.
scenario
Another great outing for Anthony Carter in Kannapolis. 6 innings; 7 strikeouts; 0 walks; gave up one run on 4-hits. Kanny up 3-1 in the 8th. Logan Johnson continues to be red hot. 2 for 3 so far tonight. Batting .444 since he's been starting.
fathom
Poreda finished strong, going 5-2, 1 earned.
witesoxfan
If anyone wants to look it up...how many hits, how many walks for Poreda? I'm kinda busy and lazy Fark you guys...no more baserunners after that though. That's nice to see. danman31
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 10, 2008 -> 07:12 PM) 8 baserunners in 3 IP with 1 K? Yikes, he's not adjusting well. I think it's way too early to say not adjusting. Has he even entered the adjustment period? He had 2 innings before this start.

Yeah, its kind of tough to say that with guys like Poreda and Miranda who are 21 and jumped from Rookie ball last year to High A this year. Give them a little time. 103 mph screwball
I'm interested in Broadway's performance. He might have an opportunity if Masset or Danks struggle. I'm not rooting for that, but I'm paying attention just in case.
