For Howard Stern Fans...

This was crazy stuff today. Artie was crying when he left the studio.

Artie Lange walked out on the Howard Stern Show after an argument with his personal assistant on the air, and now the question remains whether he will ever return.

The argument between Lange, who joined the show permanently in 2001, and his assistant of 2 years, Teddy, quickly escalated from a simple squabble over travel accommodations.

As the spat continued, Lange became enraged and physically lashed out at Teddy, but the physical confrontation was apparently diffused by other members in the studio.

When Lange returned, he said Teddy would be "dead" had he reached him and that he'd be in jail.

Stern said he cannot condone Lange's actions, but Artie (who's been prone to such outbursts) said he can't guarantee he won't act out in the future.

Artie then offered his resignation, and Stern accepted but told Lange to leave and cool off.

Teddy returned to the studio several minutes later and said there was overreacting from everyone. Howard Stern and producer Gary Dell'Abate said they "did not know what to make of it all."

You know what blows, my satallite was not working this morning and I missed it. I am not sure what was going on as traffic blew, ugh. Maybe I'll catch it on the way home.

publicity stunt.

You know, Howard has never been one to do that...and if you heard it, it was not possible. True anger was seething from this guy today. It was nuts to listen to, if you are a fan of the show.

sounds like Harry telling Mac to kiss his sack on the air a few years back. That was quite a publicity stunt as well

Mac is a stern fan...he might have tried to emulate his idol, but it just doesn't work.

Howard Stern...is he still relevant?

If you look at the number of subscribers that have come to Sirius since his announcement and the total failure of all his former terestrial radio sataion, yes he is very relevant. Simple things too, like very specific things he has on his show will shoot up search engine hot lists, songs mentioned out of the blue will jump on i-tunes, etc...

So he's the Oprah of radio?

Sad really, usually a good Stern reference would have this a 50 post thread before lunch. Perhaps that's a gauge. At least we know Howard has the integrity to not stage a fight between his co-entertainers.

im hoping to catch him on the replay tonight on my drive home (or listen on youtube) where its already posted.

interesting fact about stern... its estimated that he specifically brought 4-5 million ppl to sirius alone. cut it down the middle to 4.5 million people each paying $12.95/mo= approx $700 million a year in revenue (+ ad revenue) for Sirius.

if you're a fan of the show it's definitely worth going out of your way to listen to. It kind of put Howard and Sirius in a little bind, this is the second time he's lashed out physically at a co-worker, if it happens a 3rd time I imagine there would be lawyers willing to try and go after Howard and Sirius if something physical actually occurs.

I know he has a ton of money, etc., but it's sad to see someone who has so much going for them seemingly so unhappy and willing to throw it all away. We'll see, they're on vacation next week, so I have a feeling he'll be back.

If he leaves I hope they fill the chair, hopefully with Greg Fitsimmons (sp?). Carolla would be my dream team, but I don't think Sirius could give him enough $$

Artie has a lot of demons, doesn't he? I remember a few years ago when I could listen, he disappeared for weeks. Didn't he get better for a bit and lose a bunch of weight, than I just saw recent pics and he is huge again. Hope he is ok.

When I first read this I thought it would be high-pitch Mike, not Teddy. He's been playing with fire lately. Hopefully they show this on Howard TV and hopefully Artie isn't gone because he makes the show so much better
