Pants Rowland
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Apr 10, 2008 -> 06:58 PM) I don't know why, but that sounds so much like a pornstar name to me. Did you get to see him pitch? He was a solid prospect but he took a step back when his old man died and then when things seemed to get going, a hip problem (I think) ended his career. Game 4 of the 1983 ALCS was one of the gutsiest performances I ever saw by a Sox pitcher. Too bad Jerry Dybzinski sucked eggs.

Balta1701
Ryan Sweeney just left the Oakland/Cleveland game with what Gameday is terming "An injured leg".
BearSox
I was watching the highlight of sweeney's triple a couple days ago, and he's changed his approach. He's off to a good start... bummer about the injury if it is anything serious. Edited April 13, 2008 by BearSox
shipps
QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 11, 2008 -> 01:06 AM) Well... This really wasn't meant to be for listing names, but whatever works, I guess. How the hell did anyone get the idea that we even needed a thread to list former sox players?Iam going to assume that they were just playing in the first part of this thread. witesoxfan
Athletics designated RHP Fernando Hernandez for assignment. The A's quickly decided it wouldn't be worth carrying the 23-year-old Rule-5 pick all season long after he started off by giving up six runs and five walks in three innings. They could attempt to trade with the White Sox for his rights. Per roto Perhaps that's why he wasn't put on the 40 man.

bigruss
I met an ex sox draftee a week or so ago, really nice guy, down to earth, and a little pissed at his luck too, he was a pitcher and tore his acl or something like that. I felt really bad, he went to the same school as Ryan Howard, competed vs. him in high school, and talked about hoe Howard really became the beast that he is (Howard walked on to Southwest Miss. State while he had a scholarship). He also talked a bit about how in the minors college players who come out as seniors get screwed in the draft and on the field, one injury and your done. Of course he is now an assistant JV coach for the rival school across town, but still, a real nice guy. Names Brian Keating I believe, he only told me his first name so i went researching to find where he was drafted, and its been awhile since I saw it but I beleive it was around round 23. Chisoxfn
Jon Rauch was the laziest piece of crap while in the Sox system. He rubbed the organization the completely wrong way and thought he was better than everyone else. I give him credit for picking the pieces up and turning into a succesful reliever. Hell, there was a point in time where many experts predicted cy young's for him (than he tore his labrum and never fully recovered from that). CaliSoxFanViaSWside
Frank Thomas just reached out for a pitch against Jon Garland and hit a fly ball down the right field line that barely landed fair and barely eluded Vlad Guerreo. Once it got by Vladdy. Frank ended up with an RBI triple. His 1st 3 bagger since 2002.
