NorthSideSox72
So, Goose Island - Chicago's largest brewery and the nation's 25th largest brewery - is closing down its flagship and original brewpub on Clybourn. The owners asked for a large rent increase that they couldn't afford. I am not happy. The good news is, the brewery itself will live on, as well the second pub location in Wrigleyville (blah). I quite enjoy the Honkers, especially when it's the only decent thing on draft at some places. I like a lot of their other offerings a lot better (they made a saison a couple of years ago that is one of the best American interpretations I've ever had. kjshoe04
Not a huge fan of any Goose Island brews. Still a shame they have to move/close.
Heartattack19
It always amazes me that these successful businesses do not own their locations, but i guess the start up costs are so high that it is prohibitive to buy the land outright. And who knew that Goose Island itself (the island) would become popular, it was all industrial and run down for the longest time. Now these landlords will have a huge empty space with no tenants. Heartattack19
a hot dog stand in my area, Toots, on Montrose and central lost their lease two years ago, only now has the new owner of the property began work! It is crazy when people try to get high rents or force the tenants out, then they have no rent money coming in, unless they need to show a loss for tax purposes or something. I am beginning to think that anything to do with money and taxes is a game, see what you can do to minimize your tax liability if you have good money coming in from other sources. I know i am oversimplifying, but i think it is all one big game...

CanOfCorn
"Chicago is a great beer town and Revolution Brewing will fill an important niche in the local scene with our full-flavored beer," noted managing partner Josh Deth. " Do you think blind taste testers would take a sip of Revolution and say..."Tastes like Deth?" Wait, then again, maybe not.
BigSqwert
The more I read about this place the more excited I'm getting. Two city lots, four walls, a soon-to-be green roof and three full floors of possibilities. Originally used as a book printing shop, our new home is a vintage timber-mill constructed building located along historic Milwaukee Ave. in Chicago’s Logan Square. In place of the old cast-iron printing press, stainless steel brewing tanks will now command center stage on the first floor while a vast cellar provides ample room to age our beers to perfection. The dinning room and bar area will showcase the preserved pressed tin ceiling and a set of maple floors that have seen their share of use. An open floor plan upstairs in the loft is being designed to accommodate special events and gatherings. Our design team is led by Ravi Ricker and Cheryl Noel AIA, LEED, principals of Wrap Architecture, based in Logan Square.
