Gavin's fastball seems much more crisp, especially thanks to the audio behind home plate.

I like that. For you guys that used to pitch...did ya ever have a catcher that for some reason his glove never popped. Whether it was the glove or how he caught it. I threw fairly hard...and it used to piss me off when I knew I was throwing hard and the glove didn't pop.

Oh ya...it was such a confidence boost when the mitt would pop a lot.

That was such a confidence booster when my catcher let the ball come to the web and smack the mitt. My backup catcher always moved his hand and caught it more towards the palm and it pissed me off.

lol gary thorne...."miguel tejada hit a HR in a losing effort as he celebrated 2 birthdays today"

How fitting that Carlos Lee and Miguel Tejada hit solo homers in a 10-2 game.

It's the style of mitt. I had one that was kind of dead sounding, no matter what was thrown. I never liked it, but I never had a pitcher complain. It seemed I would catch the ball higher in the webbing most of the time. I think I loved catching so much for the equipment, the jawing with the umpire and batter, and being able to see everyone.
