BigEdWalsh
QUOTE (scenario @ Apr 20, 2008 -> 05:11 PM) Nanita continues his hot hitting for the Barons. 3-4 raising his average to .339 What's gotten into this guy? Logan Johnson with 2 hits raising his average to .340 Isn't this Nanita's third season at Birmingham? It would seem he's destined for this years Leo Daigle award. Regarding Logan Johnson, thank goodness for Kanny he's hitting like he is because the rest of the team has been pretty slow out of the gate. Gallagher is coming around, I think he'll be alright and hopefully Martinez too.

Likely a lot of the hitters who moved up a level will adjust to the level by the second half... and that pitchers are just ahead of the hitters at this point. Greg Paiml came on like gangbusters at the end of last season. Unbelievably hot the last month and a half of last year. It will be interesting to see if he pulls a repeat. (Interesting sidenote: when he was growing up, he was a batboy for the Birmingham Barons.) IMO, Christian Marrero is the best hitter on the team. Just waiting for him to kick in. Ditto Gallagher who started slow last year and then came on very strong. Edited April 21, 2008 by scenario
DBAHO
Decent from Poreda, but you'd probably like to see more from him down at that level.
JPN366
Nanita was awesome in 2006 and okay in 2007. I think having Richie Hebner as a batting coach last year hurt a lot of Barons players. Wes Clements has a much better approach with B'ham this year (i.e. lots of basehits). I started calling Nanita "Mr. Souvenir" two years ago because he fouls off like 5 or 6 picthes an at bat. Another tidbit about Greg Paiml, he graduated from high school at age 16 and college at the age of 19. Well...I can't say that the educational standards of Hoover High School and the University of Alabama are that great. But, I'm sure Greg is a smart kid considering how quickly he finished school. Cerbaho-WG
QUOTE (DBAH0 @ Apr 21, 2008 -> 12:03 AM) Decent from Poreda, but you'd probably like to see more from him down at that level. Eh, not exactly. I wouldn't be surprised if the Sox are making him throw a bunch of changeups and sliders so he can get better with those pitches, which would obviously explain some of the "mediocre" numbers he's been having.
